big ranked loss streak after win streak

So, I hadn't played Lol quite a while and I started again a few months ago. I played some normals and decided to play ranked. The first 10 ranked games were really bad and I lost 9/10. The next games were pretty good and I had a balanced win/loss ratio (3 wins, 1 loss). But after this win streak suddenly I'm starting to lose every ranked game. Suddenly I'm getting paired with people who seem to have started playing League two days ago. Today I lost my 12th ranked game in a row. I don't know if LoL's matchmaking system is made like this but it's really annoying and discouraging me from playing the game in general. I just wanted to share this information and see if anyone else is experiencing the same issues.
