Concerns about the mage update

I've played a decent amount of zyra as she exists now. I play her entirely as a mid lane mage with no support zyra games so i'm pleased that she is being considered for an update that is focused heavily on the mid lane. I'm concerned that she doesn't need as much of a change that she might get.

Passive: This is where she needs changes. Probably a new passive all together. Zyra doesn't want to die. If you are playing well you shouldn't be using that passive at all. (somewhat like kogmaw actually) While I have gotten kills because of the passive, it still is a tool i'm trying my best not to use.

Q: Ok as it stands. Standard skillshot nuke. There is nothing wrong with a very basic ability that does a very basic thing. It has an interaction with plants which is nice and necessary, but like I said, there is nothing wrong with a basic spell like this.

W: Plants are a bit useless but i'm not sure a total revamp is needed, unless they were incorporated into the passive somehow, which i really don't want, (please no rng/minigame) and a new spell was added here. Another random issue with plants is they require use of a spell (an offensive and damaging tool that is used on top of enemies) to even do damage. Not always bad since the e plants are short range and slow so they want to be there, but the q plants may not always want to be on top of things. Give me more seeds: I want to have more plants to use. I want to be getting seeds faster (slightly). I would like to see something like a scaling amount of seeds I can have. Preferably on the ult level actually (similar to gangplanks barrels) Mainly because I think putting it on the spell causes 2 problems: This is the spell you level up last on zyra meaning you won't get access to all these plants until much later, and I think that having 6 plants might be just one too many to deal with. if you got 1 extra seed per ult level the kit would interact with itself more and you would have more to work with. Give some more interactions: I'm not sure what needs to happen here but a couple of minor modifications could happen in terms of interactions to help out. Perhaps if the plants hit a champion they could give back a small amount of mana/health. This would have to either be very small to deal with multiple plants or have caps/only proc a certain number of times, I'm also thinking of a flat amount, although %missing could work as well. There are a lot more potential interactions that could exist and I'm sure if I took more time to think about it I could come up with some other ideas. This is just a random one that I had thought of. W: tl:dr I like the plants but they don't do quite enough. I would rather see a # of plants buff tied in with the ult (similar to GP) so it doesn't impact laning phase much but allows for more late game plant damage and the ability to setup areas better. More interactions might be possible.

E: Pretty good as it is, If you want to bring her power up maybe ever so slightly increase width or duration but I don't want to see it become oppressive so be careful

R: The king of counter/disengage abilities. This with well placed e's and rylais plants (another reason to have more plants to hit more targets) can make zyra incredibly good at teamfighting and controlling the situation. Someone in a game once said we had good teamfight. I said, "I can 1v5 and have good teamfight, not that I'll try."

I see a lot of potential for zyra but I'm worried that a champion I love will change to something I don't. (hi quinn)

As for the rest of the 6 champions: Cassie is on this list for a reason, don't put vel'koz on the list for the next mage update for the same reason. I'm neutral on malzahar and brand since I don't play them so I'll just wait and see how they start to pan out. I wonder why vlad counts as a "mage" considering he doesn't use mana, a stat that was associated with mages based on some red posts. And the fact he would rather be in the middle of a fight than working from range (and has a completely viable top lane playstyle) I'm more worried that a rework for vlad under the "mage update" will completely alienate his current playerbase because his playstyle will change completely. Please also keep top lane vlad in tact.

I really would like to test some of the changes that come out for the mage update but I'll probably have to wait til live.
