Autofill + "the feeding botlane meta" is a vicious cycle

-Play support -Cheese some early kills in a jungle invade -"Ok I have Targons, they have Janna, we can just safely farm this lane" -Realize that autofilled adc thinks he can play aggro because we have a 'lead' -Autofilled adc keeps going ham on Janna when enemy Lee is definitely near bot -Whoops never really got to use the Targons, and now we don't have a tank -Autofilled adc getting assassinated by MF Q's bc she farmed him enough for Lethality items -Enjoyable video game

Extreme example, but I think autofill is a big part of this "steamroll botlane" meta. Odds are someone down there doesn't want to be, and the difference between a plat adc main and an autofilled jungle main who tries to fight in melee just compounds the whole "one team farms the enemy botlane" thing. Normally as support you get to control the situation, but right now it's too risky to actually try to do anything besides scale up into the team's only tank, while avoiding the constant 4-man ganks.

If autofill has to exist, Riot needs to take some pressure off of botlane. Autofill is manageable most of the time because the bot laner who who wants to be there can try to prop up the one that doesn't, but right now it only takes one person to cave to the constant map pressure (if one of your bot laners doesn't respect the ganks or watch the map or ward, they're both boned).

At the very least, put some indication in champ select when someone's autofilled, so that I can try to talk the team into swapping some roles around to make sure that the people in the lane that mainly decides the game, actually know how that lane works. As I alluded to in the title, there seems to be a rise in the number of bot laners getting autofilled, pretty clearly because the meta makes bot less fun so less people queue up for it, and then more autofilled people and more Feeding Bot Meta. Improve Autofill, fix what's going on in botlane, either would end the cycle, but otherwise it's just gonna get worse.
