I main support, so it's rarely a problem for me to get my role, since playing support/fill guarantees one of the roles you pick. However recently I have seen a trend where when I pick support/bot I end up with bot. when I would rather support. While I can play ADC its only slightly better than the rest of my roles, and with the way Flex ranked has been going, I'm seeing Diamond and Plat players on the enemy team, which I can support against, but can't ADC against.

Is there any chance we can get the option to only pick one role? I would be perfectly happy to only play support for the rest of my life, if I want to play something silly thats what what Blind Draft and ARAM are for.

What Riot is afraid of with "one role" is that it would take far too long to match for games, thus making players leave because it takes forever to find a game. Everyone wants to be top/mid/adc, but fewer want to play jungle and support.

The "two roles+autofill" hypothetically tries to keep wait times for games to a reasonable level. Whether it works or not only Riot can say since they're the ones with the data.
