Pretty sure I just came up with the perfect argument for why poaching the jungle is just plain wrong
There's another thread on the boards right now discussing how bot laners are taking Gromp/Krugs to arrive in lane a level ahead, even if behind on CS. The other issues in terms of balance aside, that leaves the problem of whether or not poaching a camp that early should be considered as selfish on the part of the laner even though the camp might respawn as it potentially throws off the early game jungle route that a jungler will have practiced that relies on being in certain places at certain points in time. Lengthy description aside, I said this at the end and figured it might be possibly the best analogy for why laners shouldn't be poaching early camps.
"It'd be like if junglers sat in your lane for the first minion wave and stole every last hit from you. Sure, the minions are going to respawn, and quicker than a jungle camp will. But you're still going to be pissed that they're taking what you identify as your source for gold and experience, aren't you?"
If any of you have ever complained at a jungler for taking a minion or two more than you felt they deserved for a gank, this applies to you. If you're allowed to bitch about minion tax when we're volunteering our assistance for your lane, don't expect us to be okay with you taking our creeps when you aren't even helping us with our initial leash, and when you're expecting us to give you kills early on.
We don't have to so much as touch your lane. We're under no obligation to ward your river. When both the top and the mid laner are holding lane on their own and helped us with our starting leash we're going to want to spend our precious time ganking for them instead of you. Take from the jungler and you're quite literally biting the hand that feeds you kills, assists, and turrets. You don't have smite, so you aren't getting the extra benefits for jungle clear, for objective control, or for vision that we get, so this extends beyond just Gromp/Krugs. I've had plenty of midlaners snipe raptors as I was almost done clearing them because they felt like they needed some extra gold. Just because you think you need second or third blue doesn't mean that the jungler thinks you need it more than they do, especially when you've already given up three kills before blue has even respawned. ADCs aren't entitled to red just because they're the "attack damage carry" and if anything it should be going to someone who's attacking slower like the top laner or
maybe, just maybe
your friendly neighborhood jungler, who isn't dealing upwards of 600 damage by just right clicking.
It's nothing personal, just business. We like our gold and exp to be available when we need it. We know how best to utilize perks from smiting objectives. We know which members of the team can make best use of a buff and where. We have a sixth sense for when someone is attempting a Dragon and we can steal it a lot easier than you can.
Until I see bot laners running smite as part of the meta, so far as I'm concerned anything not in a lane is for the junglers to decide who gets it. It takes about half a second to ask for a camp, just pinging on it is usually enough for a good jungler to know you're asking if you can take it so we can respond with an affirmative ping or a danger ping to tell you no.
Otherwise, we can't be held responsible for having to worry about our farm after you put us behind when that 4 man gank comes bot for you. We're happy to clean up the mess at the last second once you've died for the good of the team to weaken the enemy though.
