I was playing a game today where I was XIn Zhao top. For all intents and purposes my team was losing early on; we gave away first blood, the enemy Kha'Zix essentially camped our bot lane and our Rengar wasn't ganking. Our Kog'Maw mid was doing alright and I was against Nasus top so I bullied him in lane. By 20 minutes in it was 14:6 to enemy team, and they had taken both dragons, with a gold lead of about 2k.

However we managed to turn it around. I decided that I would have to build tanky since we had no other engage. I told my team that I would engage by jumping on someone and ulting and popping Randuin's and that all they need to do is follow up while they enemy were distracted, I knew I would end up dying. It was a normal game, so I didn't expect much cooperation or game sense, so I took it upon myself to essentially shout orders to my team; not flaming, but directing them what to do.

By 35 minutes we had a 5k gold lead. We ace'd them a couple of times but none of our lanes were ever pushed to get an inhibs so I told them to get side lanes towers and baron. I realised the enemy Katrina was causing us to lose fights as she would wait for my team to follow up and then ult, so I told them to focus her, and eventually even though she had Zhonyas we sacked her.

The point is, I was wondering what influences a game to turn, and how can you actively turn a game. I don't claim to be a good player, in fact I am average at best. I have only been playing for 6 months, and I haven't even started ranked yet, and I wont say I carried this game because I didn't win my lane even though I probably should have, but I feel like I was able to actively win it for us.

Any thoughts?

Mattering how far behind you are, it is really just playing until the other team makes enough mistakes you can recover, or one late game mistake that leads to a winning push.

Once you're actually far behind, and not just a few kills or a tower or so, you're just playing tight defensively until you can capitalize.

Definitly teamwork can affect a turn around. If you get someone who is negative immediately counter it by telling team there is still a chance to win. I have won more than a few 4v5's due to either afks or trolls. If team is willing to wrok towards a win and not jump into fights recklessly they can still win. Getting objectives such as dragon stacks and or aceing helps too.

Probably the biggest influence on comebacks is overconfidence by the other team. When you get cocky, you are more prone to make bad decision that let the other team back into the game.

Sometimes a little coordination can go a long way.
