2 solutions for fixing dynamic queue
Hey guys, I've got 2 thoughts on fixing dynamic queue.
Step 1: Premades can only be matched against premades of equal size and elo. If one team has 3 people who are coordinated, the other team has to have 3 people in a premade as well. Sure premades might have to wait longer for a game, but they can make better use of that time waiting and quite frankly it's a fair trade off considering the power they have over 5 randoms. This is probably the simplest and fairest way to fix dynamic queue for everyone below diamond.
Step 2: Let supports pick next to last and junglers pick last. I'm suggesting this because frankly a support main is probably going to be more likely to a pick a support who goes well with his ADC than an ADC main picking someone who goes well with his support. This is important because there are a few ADCs who need protecting more than other, if your ADC picks a poke champ you might want to as well, etc.
As for the jungler picking last, having last pick on your team is important for the jungler because he can use that pick to fill in the gaps in team comp or complement the team's identity. Also picking early as a jungler could be a disaster if only because you can't really count on your teammates to pick types of champs that compliment your jungler. I love playing shyvana but if I first pick her, I might as well assume that my team will not have any CC. If my teammates then decide to all pick late game champs who need to be babysat before I can finish my first clear on top of that, I'm going to want to cry. It's kind of hard to save someone's behind or help snowball them if your jungler doesn't mesh well with the type of champ they picked.
While step 2 won't fix the primary problem of dynamic queue, I think it'd really help the game and champ select in terms of comp issues. Later picks are more powerful and the ones who are depended on the most by the team need that power more than the ADC main who always picks vayne and hopes to luck into a team comp that'll keep his ADC alive into late game.
To put it simply, a premade has the ability to coordinate things like comps much better than randoms. Giving supports and junglers the ability to fill in some of the gaps on your team or give it a semblance of a composition at least gives the most depended on players of a team a chance to mitigate their team's disadvantages in champ select verses a group of premades. Premades have the advantage of planning out compositions before their match begins and if using voice chat or have played with each other enough better chance to adapt on the fly. While seeing what your teammates are intending to play is nice, they could easily change their minds and the two roles who are best suited to picking reactively should be given that opportunity.
