Mage Rework: Could Brand actually light things on fire?

The title is pretty self-explanatory. Brand's entire identity revolves around fire (his skills, his lore, his character model) so why not give him the possibility of creating a literal inferno on the rift by using his skills? Pillar of fire and conflagration look like they should leave a smoldering crater or at least some damage after being used and yet there is no trace of them after the animation's done. Two of Brand's biggest key identities are his passive and AoE - combining the two seems like it would give Brand some fantastic play and thematic opportunities in his kit that should be considered for his rework.
