League Voice: Why it's currently not useful at all

Hello!

I want to talk about the new voice chat function. It is really great that after all those years, Riot finally managed to implement a voice chat. However, I find it quite redundant to restrict the new function to friends/premade parties only. Where is the sense in that? Who the hell plays League of Legends with his friends without being already connected via voice chat through Discord or Teamspeak? That being said, I think that League Voice should be available aswell when playing with randoms.

"But what about those special snowflakes that can't handle the 'toxic' behavior of internet randoms when playing League??" While I completely understand the outrage about internet trolls and annoying kids molesting you through voice chat, voice chat is still the most reliable, most direct and FASTEST way to communicate with your team. It's way more convenient than spending your precious seconds to type in team chat in online games. So if you still feel unsecure about it: Mute everybody. Voice chat is an option. If you feel harassed, mute and report afterwards. That way, everybody can be happy.

TL;DL: Voice chat with friends only is useless as we prolly already have done that for the past couple years. Let us voice chat with random team mates!

A lot of people are afraid of people being toxic on voice chat. But you realise most people are only comfortable being toxic because typing is an indirect from of communication? look at games like CSGO where voice chat is enabled. It's a relatively clean and friendly experience. People are more conscious of themselves when they're actually talking to someone (through human speech).

I hope they keep it restricted. It takes the solo out of solo queue. I also don't want to listen to screeching manchildren every game. It's not like anyone is going to listen to what you say anyway because everyone thinks that they are right.

Because now people don't have to open up another app to voice chat?

I think it's a good idea. You don't have to worry about adding people, getting thrown into weird random group chats, having random people on your friends list, making sure everyone has the same app to begin with

I think it's a good way of streamlining things so far.

Whats the point of solo q if everybody has voice chat ? I like to listen music and focus on my game, not talk to some random people. And if the enemy team is all in voice chat, Im at a disadvantage.

I was thinking that maybe they are testing the waters first to see if there are any issues with the voice chat first and then release it slowly, first in ranked solo queue or even in a new rotating mode or just draft pick. Riot needs to be EXTREMELY careful of what they do with the social part of the community as that can be the most crucial thing.

An other thing is that I add a lot of random people and I usually demand that they join me in a voice chat app or else it's like I am playing solo (the game does a great job at balancing the enemy team for you being premade)

If they're worried about toxicity just implement voice chat in a manner akin to Overwatch. You don't have to deal with it if you don't want, and if there's a rager you can quit the channel and not have to listen to them.

just give me a "mute all" function I can toggle and go ham

I guess they're just testing things with restricting it to premades (which in times of DIscord and TS is kinda redundant) before enabling it for everyone at some point in the future.

I completely agree, there is a benefit when you are duo with someone for the first time, so you dont have to add them to skype, ts whatever it is. But instead have a quick option for voice. But despite that, i feel they should have just added it as an option to enable for all.
