30 minute timeout, i picked a champ?

I picked a champion, I guess I didn't click "lock in". It threw the whole game out, and gave me a 30 minute timeout. I was there, and playing... Can't the game go with "he's pick a champ" and not "has he locked in"? Seems like lock in should just immediately move to the next picker, rather than throw the game away.
