After the nerf Warwick now gains 1.6 autoattacks from his W if his target stands still for 6 seconds

Grockk·4/12/2015, 1:26:36 PM·38 votes·3,956 views

Warwick's base attack speed is .679 attacks per second

With no W: 6 seconds x .679 attacks/second = 4.07 attacks

With W activated (+40% attack speed): 6 seconds x 1.4 x .679 attacks/second = 5.70 attacks

difference = 5.70 - 4.07= 1.63 auto-attacks gained if the target stands still (and Warwick isn't stunned or AS slowed) for the full 6 seconds.

Sadly, while it may seem that attack speed items would improve W, they do not-- attack speed % buffs are additive, and W is an attack speed % buff, not a change in Warwick's base attack speed. Here's an example:

With no W but 40% in attack speed buffs from runes/items/levels: 6 x 1.4 x .679 = 5.70

With W activated and the 40% attack speed buffs (total 80%): 6 x 1.8 x .679 = 7.33

Difference = 7.33 - 5.70 = 1.63 attacks gained

While its true that this is only at rank 1, just about every Warwick guide has W leveled last. With the new much slower level progression rate, its likely that Warwick will have a rank 1 W for 20-30 minutes, and even at max ranks the number of autoattacks gained is only doubled to 3.2 autoattacks over 6 seconds.

Compare this to, for example, Darius's W. Darius's W resets his animation, and even though its not written in the ability, he gets a free auto-attack immediately instead of having to wait 6 seconds. On top of that, at rank 1 he gets 20% bonus damage, slows the targets movement speed by 20%, and slows the targets attack speed by 20%. It's on an 8 second cooldown that drops 1 second for each autoattack or ability use on the target, down to a 3 second cooldown (Warwick's cooldown is 24 seconds), and it costs 5 less mana than Warwick's.

Compare this also to Volibears W: he passively gains 8 / 11 / 14 / 17 / 20 % bonus attack speed and that can stack 3 times. So he gets up to 60% attack speed bonus with no duration limit, no mana cost, and no cooldown.

Riot, now that Warwick has been nerfed into obscurity, could you consider giving him something back, at least to his W?

Honestly WW just needs his entire kit reworked in a way. Make him more viable but also fun to play. He has very little excitement besides jumping on someone while stunning them and yourself at the same time.

He doesn't feel like a bloodthirsty predator and definitely isn't that fun to play with his passive, E, and W all being more passive and nothing exciting.

If he's ever reworked I hope he isn't like the old WW, level 6 was gg and he stop wasn't that fun to play especially against him.

  1. At level 1.
  2. It also gives his allies attack speed. That is a lot of power, particularly in an AD heavy team.

Darius doesn't have a point and client targetable instant supression that procs up to 5 auto attack related items and has built in lifesteal and sustain

So I have no idea why you are comparing people's movement speed steroids and using unrelated info to try to support, I don't even know what it is you're trying to get. You want something and I can't even figure out if you are being serious or not.

This is such a shitty post. You try to compare WW's level 1 W to Volibear's level 5 W.

Warwick is incredibly weak in general after he was massacred because of item 3718.

I think his W is fine in its current state. It was a bit too strong previously because it allowed him and his team to shred turrets like crazy.

What I'm not happy with is the state of his R. It's Warwick's signature move and now it may as well just tickle its target. 150 base damage is next to nothing. Sure it scales with AD but who builds AD on Warwick?? In addition to this, the CD is far too long.

Frankly, revert the nerf and you have a strong, capable jungler who isn't overpowered due to a specific item. Done.

Biggest flaw in your reasoning is that you act like 1.6 extra attacks is a small thing, when it is in fact a ~20% DPS increase over the duration. That is actually a very large boost. I agree that he deserves a little back now that the 4.20 WW illuminati nerf crap is out of the way, but you are writing off 1.6 attacks as a lot less than it is (especially in an AS+on-hit build), because attack speed multiplies every other auto attack stat in the game.

Darius is a damage oriented inlane bruiser, Warwick is a sustained assassin jungle tank.

Lets compare one ability.

SerBlaise4/13/2015, 1:16:18 PM2 votes

*at level one. He gains AS per level, which makes the bonus better as the game progresses.

yukonl4/12/2015, 6:11:55 PM2 votes

Giving allies an AS steroid is bigger than you think. There's a reason why Sivir's ult was nerfed so that it no longer granted attack speed to allies.

Still I think Warwick needs a buff, and it's probably as simple as reverting the nerfs to his ultimate.

Phoenix Kotori 4/12/2015, 5:54:57 PM2 votes

It's a team buff so no.

Celeste Benal4/13/2015, 4:22:39 PM2 votes

I find WW's W to be on average, fine. It's a bit weak early. But it does generate extra attacks, which is especially important for jungling. In addition, his passive is a lifesteal. So it is also sustain buff as well. Its also really good for picking up assists.

On the whole I think his kit is now a bit weak.

His W has a lot of power..its an 80 percent attack speed buff when maxed while your whole team gets 40 percent increased attack speed which is incredibly valuable in teamfights, i have about 200 ranked games on Warwick in Season 4 and 5 and I agree that he is quite weak after so many nerfs not only to his abilities but also his items as well as enchantments, top lane Warwick is unplayable now after the base damage nerf on his ult, but I always found his old W with which you easily had 2.5 Attack Speed for 10 seconds very strong, 6 seconds is still longer than most other AS steroids and you should never underestimate how helpful it is in 2v1 or 2v2 situations or when taking a tower/baron/dragon.

Devourer need to be up yo 30 stacks instead 25.

With no W: 6 seconds x .679 attacks/second = 4.07 attacks per second

Please fix that

The solution in in here: Warwick - Ability Rework

General

More base mana More base mana regen

Eternal Thirst

REVISED INNATE: Warwick's basic attacks deal 2% of the target's maximum health as bonus magic damage, restore 5 (+0.9-1.8% bonus health) health and grant Warwick one stack of Eternal Thirst. Stacking up to 10 times, each stack of Eternal Thirst increasing the healing of this effect by 11% for a maximum of 10.5 (+1.89-3.78% bonus health). Healing is halved against minions. Eternal Thirst stacks decay at a rate of 1 every 0.25 seconds if Warwick has not damaged an enemy in the last 1.8 seconds.

Hungering Strikes

REVISED ACTIVE: Warwick slashes the target enemy twice, for a total of 80 / 110 / 140 / 170 / 200 (+ 60% AP) magic damage. Each slash applies on-hit effects. The healing from Eternal Thirst is increased by 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100% for the two slashes, stacking additively with Eternal Thirst stacks.

Cooldown: 9 / 8 / 7 / 6 / 5 seconds Cost: 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60 mana Range: Technically reduced, but it now functions like a basic attack (edge-to-edge, instead of center-to-center).

Howl

NEW ACTIVE: Warwick unleashes a howl that deals 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 / 190 (+ 60% AP) magic damage and terrifies surrounding enemies, causing them to turn and flee from the point-of-cast for 0.75 seconds. Damaged enemies are also slowed for X / X / X / X / X seconds.

Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds Cost: 50 mana

Hamstring

NEW PASSIVE - BLOOD SCENT: Warwick gains sight of nearby enemy champions and large monsters with less than 50% health (range is lower for neutral monsters). While moving toward an enemy revealed by Blood Scent, Warwick gains X% bonus movement speed. This bonus is increased as the target's health gets lower, based on the nearest applicable enemy. Enemies are made aware that Warwick can see them when he comes within a fixed range.

Similar to Orianna's ball and Soraka passive, Warwick will have an indicator that points to the nearest low-health enemy.

NEW ACTIVE: Warwick dashes toward the target location and then returns to the point of cast, dealing 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 (+ 30% A P) magic damage to enemies hit in both directions and slowing them by 95% for 0.25 seconds. The damage and slow can be applied twice, for a maximum of 140 / 160 / 180 / 200 / 220 (+ 60% AP) magic damage. Hamstring can be interrupted by movement-inhibiting crowd control effects. Warwick can activate Howl, Items/Summoner Spells (excluding Flash and Teleport) and interact with Dark Passage during Hamstring.

Cooldown: 16 seconds Cost: 50 mana

Finite Duress

REVISED ACTIVE: Warwick charges forward, stopping only when he collides with an enemy champion. The unfortunate enemy is stunned for 2.5 seconds while Warwick slashes them 4 / 5 / 6 times, dealing a total of 180 / 240 / 300 (+ 90% AP) magic damage, while Warwick gains 20% damage reduction and 30% of life steal. Each slash will trigger on-hit effects. The cooldown of Infinite Duress is reduced if Warwick successfully hits an enemy.

Base Cooldown: 130 / 115 / 100 seconds Cost: 100 mana

This is suppposed to be the Warwick rework but after a year never goes out!

FantasySniper4/12/2015, 9:39:18 PM1 votes

The main benefit in it is the chasing, team-wide boost, and how it scales off of both CDR and AA modifiers (other than AS). I actually can max it first so I'm not dependant on mana, and it lets the after-Infinite Duress battle be much easier to pull off.

The only thing I would like changed in it is to reduce the cooldown. Maybe for every stack of Eternal Thirst an enemy has when you can strike them, it reduces the CD by 0.33 secs per stack?

slipstreem4/12/2015, 9:43:04 PM1 votes

leveling up WW w is still more satisfying than leveling up Ashe's hawkshot skill(which lvl 1 of is actually quite amazing for the 3 gold per kill)... YAY I get 5 seconds off this thing that gives vision that almost no one uses when it is off cooldown! It is quite possibly the least satisfying to skill to level up in the entire game.

Simplicate4/13/2015, 4:14:21 AM1 votes

I still max W for faster clears though .-.
