When do you start trying to take dragon?

Obviously the time to take first dragon varies a lot because of a wide variety of circumstances, like how well you bot lane has pushed, how far behind the jungler might be, or the presence of a Malz / Heimer / Shaco who are super effective against dragons. But, on average, how far into the game do you start trying to take dragon?

I ask because I tend to be very focused on dragon early game, when my team doesn't seem to care about it. This is especially true with Infernal and Mountain drakes, and less true with the Cloud drakes, but a notable team-wide buff seems like something that we should get as early as possible, yeah? I mean, as i understand it, the whole reason for the 1/1/2 lane arrangement was for the extra pressure around dragon, back when it gave the coveted gold bonus. But now, no one seems interested in taking the dragon until the laning phase is almost over, which kind of makes that argument invalid. If we're not doing dragon until people are roaming into one-another's lane, why stick to a meta that's based around needing extra laners near dragon?

if you have suppport 4-5 is good. If you don't then probably lrvlr 7 is the best time to sneak it aroudn level 9 you can rush it everytime you see the enemy jungler on the other side of the map

it varies on each character, but for a general time a champion could try to kill one, around high level 5 or late level 4 if your bot lane is able to assist.

you should take it when you have ganked and either forced bot lane to back or killed them

I feel like taking Dragon earlygame is a bit of a noob trap due to all the risks of taking it early (jungler is weak and can't solo) and the oppurtunity cost. Earlygame, you'll want to farm up, get xp, and get your core items as fast as possible. So say, you're amumu: you will definitely want to rush level 6 and get cinderhulk/runics. Taking dragon early puts you behind (unless it is a really good dragon like infernal), and makes you weaker so the next time drake respawns the enemy team can take. I wouldn't recommend doing drake early unless you're a high-sustain jungler (Nunu) or their jungler is on the other side of the map. Usually, when you gank bot sucessfully for example, it's better just to take bot turret and get 400+ gold rather than, say, do an Aqua drake.

Heres my opinion, You should take dragon when you need dragon and depending on who you are. The tanky champions like Volibear Sejuani Rammus Rammus are better off ganking and farming than getting drag.

If your game is going absolutely well, leaving ur lanes for the other laners to catch up on CS and farm to take drag is a BAD idea. If you are getting triple kills-penta kills you should be focusing on some heavy pushing on towers.

Because getting inner towers, inhibitor towers, is better.
