Ornn and Riot's quest to constantly introduce new debuffs.

So today Ornn was introduced. While I can't make any statements on balance whether him being over or underpowered, there is one issue that I have. This status effect "brittle" is something that deserves more counterplay. This season we've seen now two new stats. Shield and healing power (which appears to be problematic) and now brittle. My main issue with brittle here is that there is not too much counterplay. Lowering tenacity does not make sense considering that tenacity is a stat that is given by literally two items. This is an issue. There need to be more tenacity items, especially if you're a mage player. . But poor mage itemization is a whole nother topic. So my gripe here is why must so many new status effects be introduced to the game and how healthy is it considering were in an age of cookie cutter item builds?

Tenacity as a debuff isn't a huge deal though. It only really matters when hit with other CC so it requires teamwork, so I have a hunch Ornn in Ranked will have a really bad winrate below plat 3 at least.

If brittle is a flat % increase to the effects of cc and otherwise a flat decrease to Tenacity I'm cool with it.

New effects are a nice addition.

Shield and healing power for example isn't very strong on its own. It becomes strong once you have stacked enough of it and it is honestly necessary to have at this point. By having this stat you allow shields and heals to be strong without pushing those supports into a full AP build.

If you look at it he can only apply brittle with his ultimate, his W is very unreliable and short ranged. The difference really isn't that big, the damage proc is massive though.

From a game design standpoint you can have really powerful abilities and effects if they have certain conditions that make sure they are not abused. In this case the effect is very strong, but hard to apply.

Too early to say if it's too strong or not, but I think this is pretty exciting. Maybe Tenacity will get a change eventually, but I don't think that reducing tenacity by 5% caused the stat to become useless.

I think its fine, its not too strong unless coupled with something long like liss ult or morg q. And the damage is so he can handle himself on his own and not be some kind of glorified support. There is counterplay, dodge his ram, its a bit slow at first but the second trip is fast, but hes a tank, and its his ult. Completely justifiable. His W though, has a relatively short range. And I hope you arent complaining about his W in lane, hes supposed to have heavy lane staying power.
