Allied heals are reduced in ARAM, why not shields?

I know I know, it's ARAM, who cares, etc.

But seriously, why nerf heals but not shields?

because Heal is permenant, and shields are not.

Also, shields are reactionary, and actually have an interesting gameplay pattern associated with them.

For heals in ARAM there is no thought, do you have mana? use the heal. End of story.

I think it's because heals are easier for passive, defensive play. Shields can be defensive, but they do promote aggression a bit more than healing does.

Just my two cents.

Yes please. Been sick of Janna casting 800+ shields on everyone in Aram for years.

To be slightly more clear: the probem is that with healing, you can use it out of the fight to slowly top everyone off. Janna and Karma might be frustrating, but they can't keep spaming their sheild after the fight is over to undo all of your damage.

Can you list the Champion/s that you've experienced the problem with?

Same reason Soraka can build warmogs and her team is now immune to poke and fights of attrition.

You know why.

It's because sustain is the most important thing in ARAM. Shields are not sustain.

Good question. Riot did say they were exploring and experimenting internally with items that would counter shields, so hopefully we'll see something in the preseason.
