What's happening to League of Legends?

Assassins are just steamrolling everyone, there aren't enough bans to go around. I know champions come and go, but some champions just can't be played with the amount of 'better champions' that are out there. Assassin mids dominate and there really isn't much hope to stop them. Teams with composition, the carries get nuked, then the tanks just get whittled down. I really hope I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I don't agree personally.

No they are not. Syndra, Xerath, Orianna, Jayce, Lissandra are all very strong in the meta and none of them are assassins. The only competitive assassins are Zed, Fizz, and LeBlanc. This is nowhere close to Season 3 Worlds when the only viable non-assassin was Orianna.

Assassins are just very good at stomping solo que and it has always been this way. People don't ward and get caught giving them free kills. Nobody peels for the carries in teamfights. No one in low elo pick Janna and Soraka that hard counters assassins, instead they go for the Leona that gives the carry 0 protection.

Then when the broken Assassins get nerfed their mains will act as the victims, mark my words.

You're not the only one, but fortunately this isn't a democracy.

The game is insanely snowbally now, thanks to the changes to Mejai's, Dragon, early game relevance and other factors that determine the outcome of a game in the first 20 minutes or so. We see Katarinas, Lee Sins, Kha'Zixes, Fioras, Yasuos, Zeds, Fizzes, Akalis and Rivens because they want to snowball/roam in the early game (Akali/Kata is post 6 though) and get an early dragon. Mages that are immobile are nearly out of question because not roaming isn't a good strategy right now, and the other ones still usually need some ramping up until mid game, unlike the assassins that bully out quite early and snowball extremely heavily. Then we have the occasional Morgana ban, but she goes support to let her carry snowball, so it is still kind of relevant and Warwick, whose brokenness is not really due to his snowball potential but due to challenging smite.

This isn't just about Mid and Top lane about roaming and killing. Supports are pretty much similar. Sustain is something that is getting less and less viable, because kill lanes are all that matters. Supports are always Leona, Morgana, Braum, Thresh and Blitzcrank, sometimes a Janna or a Sona or a Nami, but Taric and Soraka just can't really give the carry the first blood he needs to secure an early dragon and turn the tables in the game.

Anyway, mobility is a thing, early game is a thing, snowball is a thing, and assassins have all of that (plus quite a few of them don't even need the blue buff, allowing the jungler to stay in the harder jungle a little longer assuming he has a sustain skill that is kind of costy, like GP or Yi), while most old school mages are just outshined unless they are bullies themselves or have long range to kite their enemies.

Can't say I like the game how it is, though :C

Not really, all assassins fall off late game. They enjoy picking people off, not fights where they can be peeled off quickly. Anyway, its a pretty simply triangle formula. Assassins > carries Carries > tanks Tanks > assassins Mages > everything and everything > mages

Actually, I think Jayce plays very much like an assassin. The only difference is that just liek Ahri and Zed, he also has poke.

Syndra definitely falls under assassin too even if she's a bit more complex. You don't get DFG on poke mages! Her ult. also screams assassin to me.
