Why is there unranked players in my promos?

So I am silver 3 player currently and i know that being silver isn't really accomplishment but still i wanted to make this post talking about unranked players in my games. Especially in my promos.

So I started league towards the end of season 6 (so I am noob too) and I found the game enjoyable and when the season 7 started i got into ranked. I started in bronze 2 and played when I could and i climbed into silver 3. I got in my promos for silver 2 but here is where the annoying part starts. I won the first promo game and I was happy. It was nice and i thought i could get to silver 2 but in my second promo game we had unranked adc Varus who ran ghost and heal and he had like 30 farm in 20 minutes. I was little bit tilted after we lost that game but i just took a break and decided to play the last promo game. Again we got unranked but this time it was top. This player didn't run any weird summoners and he knew how to farm. At least little bit. But the problem was with the wards. He didn't ward at all and he pushed the lane alot. so in result their lee sin ganked top several times and was like 6/0 in eight minutes.

This would be a problem if it was just like twice in a week thing but it happens me way too much. I have been in my S2 promos 4 times already (I got in the S2 once but i got demoted). I am not saying that unranked shouldn't be allowed to play in silver. of course they should be allowed to play in silver. Silver isn't anything special like diamond or plat. I think (I might be wrong and correct me if I am) silver is average but what I am saying is that i dont think it's smart to put unranked players to someones promos. I don't think its fair when people who have grinded hard to get into the promos get unranked teammates who don't actually know enough about the game.

So my thought in one sentence: I think in ranked unranked players shouldn't be placed in someones promo game Cause they might not have enough game knowledge.

Give me your thoughts about this and have a nice day

unranked doesn't mean "bad" it means that they don't know how good the player is yet. This means they can be anywhere from cardboard 7 to supreme overlord of League in terms of skill. The average skill level of league players is low-mid silver (if I remember correctly) so that's exactly where you are

It makes sense to put unranked players where most players are in terms of skill and see where they are from there. Statistically wise, it all balances out and logically it all makes sense. Now if you were plat+ and got a bronze-level unranked then that'd suck

I can think of a few reasons.

  1. You're more likely to be faced against an unranked player than have one on your team.
  2. If you want the rank you should earn it.
  3. Stop focusing on your teammates, at silver 2 every game is winnable depending on your play.

It probably also has a bit to do with the mmr that the players show in their normal matches, as well as in the other matches they have played in their provisionals. When AnnieBot (a challenger Annie main) was doing his "level 0 to challenger" series, he played a bunch of matches with his subs pre-30. By the time he was around level 20, he was playing with almost all diamonds on the enemy team. Once he hit level 30 and was able to play ranked, he didn't start off playing against unranked players. And after a couple provisional matches, he started climbing quickly with the relative mmr of the matches. So, it's possible if these players actually have a decently high enough mmr in their normals, or have done exceptionally well in their other provisionals, that they might be being matched up with players in mid-high silver.
