It amazes me
That people who see 4 games of tank Ekko are suddenly fully understanding of the champion, especially in regards to how he works when going AP.
I'll tell you now, Ekkos kit is ABSOLUTELY FINE, provided 1 THING IS PRESENT; his squishiness. I've played a lot of AP Ekko, ever since his release, and the only times I stomp people easily are when I am a) vastly mechanically superior (unlikely) or b) totally outsmart them.
AP Ekko doesn't have the luxury of carelessly spamming his dash, and 80% of his main damage is delayed in some way or form. With that in mind, here's the 2 usual ways an assassination on an ADC would go down (assuming the support is nearby because an ADC farming alone vs any team with an assassin is asking for it) 1: Ekko sets up the stun out of vision, he ambushes the support and ADC, Eing the carry and throwing out his Q, here he has to decide to get ready to dodge whatever CC skillshot is coming his way and continue fighting, or back off a bit and wait for more cooldowns. Either way involves a risk. 2: Ekko misses the stub but goes in anyway, leading with the E-Q like before. This time however the support is not stunned, and Ekko leaves himself vulnerable to an incredibly easy skillshot to land by simply throwing it at the ADC. This will likely force his ult when the cc wears off, or hell be dead (maybe chain CCd into another ability) In teamfights it's even worse, chances are you can go in, proc you're passive, and then you have to high-tail it out of there and wait for cooldowns.
The only reason tank Ekko seems op is because he doesn't have to CARE about his engage, there's minimal risk involved at all, and he can STAY in a fight, rather than jump in and out. AP Ekko has to care a lot, because 1 hook leaves him in grey screen.
As far as AP Ekko is concerned, if he is beating you, it's usually indicative at least 1 of 3 things: superior mechanical skill, strategic sense, or battle/fight intuition. His whole kit is obviously telegraphed, and requires forethought and set up, quite unlike any other champion in the game.
Side note: to those who think Ekko would be better suited as a fighter, please tell me your supplier, it must be some quality grass.
