Should I buy Gnar or syndra and why?

So, I've tried both of them and I've found their play style quite unique.I'm currently silver and want to pick a champion that is both fun to play and really rewarding when mastered. Even though I main ap mid, I can't decide. Well, since I want to climb the ladder I would like a champ that has great potential as a ranked pick .Do you have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance! Please vote , I'll appreciate it

Of the two, I would honestly say Gnar, not because he is necessarily any better and/or stronger, in fact I would say he probably isn't. I would actually suggest Gnar over Syndra because he is more consistent. I am certainly not doubting your skill with either of these champions, but I think any time someone has a choice between two champions, you should always go for the one who is easier to learn and generally has better survivable capabilities.

If you honestly prefer greater risk vs reward champions who have high burst, go with Syndra

Gnar is more fun to play and has some really neat mechanics and combos you can pull.

Simple...ur an ap mid, and Syndra is a rewarding champion when mastered. She's a lot of fun given her mix of consistent damage, and some burst either her ult. She's not easy but Def a lot of fun. Gnar is generally harder to utilize in lower elo for various reasons. One being hes reliant on his passive.

I play Gnar a lot (although recently I have been neglecting top and I need to start up again) and he is my main top. Tbh, out of all the champs that have come out since I joined, I have never been as excited as I was for Gnar. He's so much fun to play.

First, he's a ranged top laner. He is very good against melee champs because of the range. His boomerang goes a very long distance and his auto's are ranged too, but his W is great for harassment and really works to burn down tanks. While he is squishier as little Gnar, the range gives him advantages over non-ranged tankes and he has his jump if he needs to back away from his opponent. His jump is also good if a champ like Riven or Garen is charging at you to try and engage. For example, if Riven is starting her jump combo towards me, I quickly jump back and throw my boomerang at the same time. The boomerang gives a stack of W, slows her, and then I start auto-ing her to quickly turn around that fight and get a chunk of damage out. If you are not able to attack, the jump still works great at getting you out of things.

Big Gnar has his own advantages and weaknesses as well. My favorite though is when people don't realize I'm about to transform and dive me under turret, only to get ulted facefirst into the wall and then stunned. I've had the enemy toplaner and their jg gank me twice like this in 2 seperate games.

Both ended in double kills >:3

Big Gnar is tankier and provides more CC than little Gnar, however his jump does not go as far without hopping on a minion initially and he becomes melee. He is great for engages though later on in the game. If you jump on a minion right as you transform and land in the middle of the enemy, it really surprises them XD. The CC he provides is really useful, plus he becomes bigger and kinda acts like a big fluffy shield for his team (which is what tanks should do). If an enemy is escaping, his Q slows them down and picking it up resets the cooldown by A LOT.

You have to be smart with your engages though, because if you go in at a bad time, you're going to have a hard time getting out and Mega only lasts for so long.

Since you can rush the transformation by using any ability during his "pre transform" phase, if you are about to die it's a great way of...not dying lol. Mega gives you more health and more armor/MR, and depending on how low the enemy is it can also turn around a fight in your favor. They go from chasing this lil' fluffball to being punched in the face by a giant fluffball.

Gnar is really fun to play and once you get used to his two forms and how they work he can be very good. He has been my main top laner since he came out and over time I've learned how to deal with most toplane champs. He's fun, different, and just plain adorable too. I love his laugh omg QuQ
