Riot Punishes Players That Play More Games.

It explicitly states Here that the increased amount of games played lowers the amount of blue essence, and increases the amount of games that is played through levels 1-30. It is played off as it is a minor fact, but in reality it appears like a blatant injustice. It claims that the majority of players play on average, 4 games per day, this could be true with a different conclusion that most people play 4 games. The statistics could ring true if the population was bimodal some of the players logging on for 1 or 2 games and the rest being a peak at a higher amount of games such as 6 with a right side skew. The mean (average) amount of games per player would still be 4 but the graph would look completely different. This would also make a lot more sense since the population is a lot more polarized than the claim of 4 games would lead those to believe, with the common person only wanting to play a game or two and the more devoted player playing a multitude of games before logging off.

This sort of plan also seems completely counter-intuitive since the majority of players that want to purchase all the skins, and collectables happen to be the player that plays a large volume of games per day. Besides a player being more likely to purchase the collectables, the players that are playing more games per day, and then subsequently more games to level up, are then more prepared for ranked play. This would create a difference in initial skill making it hard for the players that leveled up quickly to 30 as prepared as the players that played the 176 games (6 games a day). To that extent, the players that were rooting for faster leveling are also the ones that now will have to play more or equal amounts of games as they were before the preseason update.

My personal solution for this would be 1 of 2 options:

  1. A continuation of the quest tree extending to a higher amount of win markers. i.e. a 3rd or 5th win marker that granted more experience then a 10th and so on so that it is encouraged to play more, instead of being penalised for doing so.

  2. The ability to purchase accounts from Riot directly, with proof of a level 30+ account or after a certain higher level. Granted this is a severely drastic measure, but when playing the game less rewards a player more than playing more, it seems like the natural progression of events. Not playing the game at all, and just throwing money at riot should reward players the most.
