What is my best bet agaisnt Assassins as ADC?

I'm being blown up in seconds and raged at for that so much that it's not even fun anymore :S

So, my problem. I think my laning as ADC has improved a lot lately, and even as Vayne , my main I'm usually able to hold my own. So, when teamfighing starts I of course head there to help, and try to position behind others, and usually I'm not taking damage from any other sources than Assassin. Then someone just jumps to my face, and I simply die. That gets player in case fed, and me dead again. It's a sad pattern to me. I upgrade my trinket at lvl 9 to help with vision so it's not that, and I also use that trinket :D I had a game with Ashe where I won my lane, but enemy had a Regnar who effectively deleted me as soon as I got back up. That time we won but only because enemy got a DC.

What can I do? What should I do, what am I expected to do? Many times my deaths lead to being flamed which kinda lets me down. To clarify, this all in normals, I don't play ranked.

I have found these champions difficult: Talon Zed Diana Leblanc Rengar Akali ... Maybe I forgot someone but these are examples. Katarina I find easy to deal with, I just Condemn her ulti if she tries that, or as Ashe I ulti her. Of course if she is hyper fed she will kill me anyway but, then she sorta deserves it.

I mean I main rengar jungle and vayne is still your best bet because you have a engage and disengage

Aside from the obvious, which is that when you are playing ashe, you counter assassins by taking the fight to them, trying to land your ult on them to start the fight instead of trying to react to their engage, but barring that... As ashe against zed, randuins omen is a safer choice than QSS, because his basic spell rotation+autoattack and bork will often deal enough damage to kill you without needing death mark to pop, but if he ults you and you have randuins, you can ult him the moment he appears, then slow him with the randuins and walk out of his autoattack/e range as deathmark pops without him having dealt enough damage for it to be too rough on you (the same concept can be somewhat applied to when you face a talon/rengar). I feel like immobile ADCs make better use of a banshee's veil than a merc scimitar in most cases against AP assassins (QSS won't make you live very long against an akali or a diana jumping on you)

you can also opt to get black cleaver instead of last whisper, since ashe works very well with it, and the extra 400 hp can be a lifesaver

Ezreal, Corki, and Tristana are the safest ADCs you can pick into a heavy assassin comp.

You need high range/poke as well as a lot of disengage to deal meaningful amounts of damage without dying.

First it is important to realize the assassin is merely doing their job. They are supposed to be able to jump on you and kill you. As another ADC main there are a couple of things I have found to deal with this in a slight way. You need to start by identifying what each assassin can effectively do. For example Diana can't go invisible to jump on you. Use this knowledge to help your positioning. Then you can start to look at what you can do for a fight. Don't go into any fights until you know where their assassin is. You can't fight if they are behind you ready to pounce once they have you in range. Communicate with the CC engines on your team, let them know that you need the assassins CC'd when a fight starts.

Many people have a misconception about what ADC's are supposed to do. They think the ADC takes out the squishy targets in a fight, but they are supposed to kill everyone. Its the job of the mage and assassin to take the squishies out. The ADC does sustained damage to whoever they can reach. This means that you are the tank shredder/all around killer. Don't pass by their tanks to go for their squishies, but don't neglect their squishies because they have a tank between you and them. You need to analyze the field and decide who is most important to kill and where you can fight from the safest spot and try to find a medium between the two. Know that the assassins will be looking for you because you are their target and they don't want you to be in the fight. Don't position where they have that chance and wait for CC to hit them before fighting on them. Be ready to change targets from someone to them as soon as they get into your range, and make sure you have someone with CC near you at all times once mid game starts. You are the one they need to be able to secure objectives and if they can't protect you then you wont be there to melt turrets.

item 3026 item 3072 item 3139

These items are useful as an ADC to combat Assassins.

Positioning, Bloodthirster, GA, Merc Scim, Randuin's.

If all else fails you can play Ezreal.

Ezreal is 100% immune to Assassins. 100% immune.

But he is by far the lowest damage ADC any way you build him.

I find Lucian has a decent change f he's keeping up, if he gets jumped, because alot of his damage is burst rather then sustained like alot of other ADC's

Dont forget Cait, As long as you position properly and keep an eye out on the location of your opponents her E is like a get out of jail free card. especially if you have flash

NemeBro6/2/2015, 8:27:00 PM1 votes

Well I mean, ideally you'd have someone to peel for you. Like when I play Darius, my job in a team fight is to hang out with the ADC and kill the silly assassin who tries to jump on them.

I tend to play Caitlyn against heavy assassin comps, and build her as a controller rather than a glass cannon carry. This works best when you have an AD heavy team to feed off your use of Black Cleaver.

item 3022 item 3071 item 3172 These are the unique items that controller Caitlyn builds that normal ADC Caitlyn doesn't.

Not much you can do really. Against zed leblanc and talon and diana buy item 3139 to negate a large portion of damage and try to get a support with a lot of cc that is pretty instant. sona, leona, thresh, braum, or soraka come to mind. You just have to have great reflexes and hope that you can flash, ult or tumble at tthe perfect time and that your team is peeling for you
