There is no reason to play Twisted Fate

Yesterday I posted a long and fairly well thought out argument why Twisted Fate is no longer useful in or relevant to this game. Having failing to create the discussion I had I'm going to create a synoptical version of that post.

reasons not to play Twisted Fate no escape no chase movement speed 330 base no gap close no damage and almost no scaling to speak of majority of his damage dealt at his miserably short aa 525 range no instant cc no defense no sustain some of the lowest stats in the game no ability to trade and easy bully out of lane essentially no passive massive inability to consistently land his only poke no active E and bad passives rivals bard for team dependency cant carry no matter how fed MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF VERBAL ABUSE DIRECTED AT YOU second lowest win rate in the game

reasons to play Twisted Fate Semi global teleport ult every 2 1/2 minutes. 8 seconds of essentially global vision Split pushing Pick a Card

So how exactly is a champion in League with absolutely no way to defend himself. Twisted Fate is worse than most every other champion in almost every way. In a league of mobility creep, assassins, and abuse able cc Twisted Fate just cant compete anymore.

well I guess all of those high diamond/masters/challenger players who pick twisted fate are idiots then, it's not as if he has godly map control, burst, wave clear and low cooldown stuns or anything.

Do you even know what you're talking about? He can bully lane if you're good at him. I have one shot most ADC and mid champions no problem. If you want to play him effectively on your first back make sure you're level six and have enough for sheen and boots. Done, you can now win lane.

"QQ, i'm used to playing button-mash champs like Riven Darius Rengar Volibear and as a result am absolute garbage at a champion like TwistedFate who requires cooldown and resource management along with perfect positioning and strategic forethought! I try to rush into the enemy team whenever I damn well please like I do with other champs and it doesn't work so TF must be garbage!'

That's what I got from your post.

Reason 1: Rengar Evelynn Twitch Talon MonkeyKing Akali Shaco Teemo all exist. Reason 2: Split pushing with global ult. Reason 3: Easy + Strong wave clear. Blue card makes him difficult to push out of lane.

League is a strategy game. Every champion is good sometimes and horrible other times.

Reasons to play Twisted Fate: Wielding magical playing cards is awesome. His drawl is awesome. His hat is awesome. His personality is awesome.

So what if he's not competitive? He's an awesome-burger smothered in awesome-sauce.

well generally a tf will buil boots + lich and ludens which actually gives him pretty high ms, and the reason his lane phase sucks is because of his extreme roam potential after 6

You're playin a different game m8. Get out of here.

TF is perfect for low level games. Lots of low level players have trouble cs'ing, his spells can be cast endlessly for lane shove and near perfect cs. His ult has immense utility, it let's you snowball other lanes, or at the very least, pressure them whenever you are off the minimap.

Even in games where I did poorly, I could still 100% the enemy ADC's or APC's, it sounds nuts that you think he has poor scaling.

Mongoose8/13/2015, 6:13:58 PM2 votes

He has a lot of burst and global pressure and cc that comes up very often

...have you been watching worlds at all? Westdoor (among others) have been dominating with TF.

Tf isnt a mage to begin with so dont compare him to mages

twisted fate is a midlane support

thats it ,,, support

you pick tf to camp yourlane ... get 6 and serve kills to your adc ... after that you are a cc bot for your carries

it makes him a viable pick but not so much of a fun guy to play as he easily starts feeling obsolete

"no gap close"

Gate- RANGE: 5500 Active: Twisted Fate channels for 1.5 seconds and, upon completing the channel, blinks to the target location.

'...blinks to the target location.'

Number of things, idk where you are getting win rates but champion.gg has him at 52%.

'Not instant cc' his stun is targeted. The only instantaneous hard cc abilities are the suppression ults. Even Lissandra ult has a brief cast time.

'Inability to consistently land poke' that's true for every champ without targeted poke if you are new to them.

'No damage or scaling' have you seriously never seen him gold card into wild cards for all of somebody's health? He doesn't have the highest burst because he has that targeted stun and semi global teleport.

'No passive' free gold is free gold. His passive averages to 4-5 gold per minion. That's an extra minion every 4 minions.

'Can't trade' more like people won't trade with you with gold card up

Bruh do you even know what you're talking about? TF is like one of the best champions to use for solo carrying and not to mention his amazing map presence the moment he touches level 6. His ratios aren't anything to write home about sure, but they're amazing considering how each of his skills functions. That base ms is nothing when you take into account that item 3100 item 3285 are a standard in his build path. Low CD on his W also makes for a great chaser using Red Card. Also you stated that he has no way to bully opponents out of lane. That's a clear sign that you might just suck, because TF can be one of the most frustrating lane bullies in the game thanks to his Blue card and Q. He can practically wave clear under your own tower.
