Why are Riot satisfied with more playing Ranked?

In the Dynamic Queue discussion video Riot said one of the benefits of Dynamic Queue is that more people are playing ranked. How is this a positive? Why would you want casuals playing ranked? Why would you want a 3 or 4 man premade going into a game with no intention of winning and rather just to have 'fun' with their friends by trying to do the funniest shit.

How is this positive? I always thought ranked was for the tryhards and normals was for the casuals. Why do they have to change this? Does is make any difference if someone is playing ranked or normals? As long as they are playing the game, that's all that matters. Am I not right?

I don't get why this is positive.

The ranked player pool was big enough and now queue times have never been longer.

In addition, the point of ranked is a RANKING. That means, an ordering of players based on their relative skill.

Right now, nobody knows what your rank means. A 3 seasons silver, now suddenly "plat", and a last season plat, current season plat, are equal, when they are clearly not equal. If you have any doubts, put the "plat" in a 1v1 against the plat or have them both queue solo and measure their winrate over 10 games.

There is a reason why ranked 5v5 and solo/duo were separate MMRs and both were considered equally valid - all units measured by the MMR are comparable. This is no longer true.

Because how seriously you play is a spectrum. You can't cleanly cut players into "casual" vs "hardcore" groups. Some players are more or less serious, and that varies depending on what someone wants out of a game. I play mostly ranked, but I don't want to play seriously 100% of the time. They discussed it in the video, but I can restate it for you: Winning is the goal of the game. Only extremely rarely does anyone go into a game with the intent to lose. But for various reasons, some players may not want to play to win at any cost, which is the playstyle of Ranked.

When you queue for Ranked, you play to win at any cost. Normals are more open to interpretation. People can play to win at any cost simply for practice, or they can play silly shit just to see if they can win with it, or they can play to win on their own terms with their favorite champions. Ranked simply means that you are expected to play your absolute best - not that your absolute best has to be very good. Those who are less skilled will quickly be sorted into low bronze tier. While those of us who are skilled will see gains in elo due to more players in the system below us. Win-win for everyone.[slayer-jinx-wink]

They are looking for any justification for this nightmare. The only thing they care about is the softball question at about 15 mins when they got to claim how much better the toxicity is. That is 100% the reason they dumped this turd on us and they don't give a rat's ass if we like the smell or not.
