What happened to Zileas's design philosophy?

No like can we talk seriously for once?

http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=293417

I mean you literally followed this for years and years, and reworked champions according to this philosophy and a lot of them made sense : power without gameplay, unclear optimization, anti-fun and BURDEN OF KNOWLEDGE

holy shit, what the fuck is Aphelios? This guy is even worse than invoker

Seriously what happened to this?

why do we have champions like qiyana, aphelios, senna with so much bullshit and essays for their passives?

is this a joke? I can't even tell

Every new champ that comes out just makes Meteos' point over and over again. https://clips.twitch.tv/MagnificentPluckyCucumberFrankerZ

You do realize "Burden of Knowledge" is referring to the opponents burden, not the player?

This isn't them saying them would never make complex champions, this is them saying they wouldn't make a mechanic that effects an enemy that does not make it clear to said enemy what that effect is doing.

i think they stopped that philosophy with Zoe .

Spells nowdays seem to have a lot of strange effect on top of each other, and it makes it hard to read wht your enemy does.

I think Braum E is already a very complex spell. So Akali and her spells is .... a little too much.

Jhin Jhin is i think , the most complex you can go before a champion becomes annoying to understand.

I still have no clue how the F Qiyana works, The only thing i observes is 483 dashes and her ult which i took a long time to realise : STUN PEOPLE...

Urgot has a lot of little things in his kit like : "your E is a dash but if you hit an enemy you stun him and throw him behind you , it also gives you a shield, and if it's Wednesday it makes Annie cries cuz her mother died" Or "Your W target the closest enemys, except when it does not , bu it slows you when you use it, except when it doesn't and it has a duration , except when it doesn't and it uses your passive when available" Too many rules when you play against that makes it annoying to play.

Can't we go back to simple champions anymore ? i like Warwick , the champion is simple to understand :

Passive is hit 4 heal Q is strike for small bite and hold to go behind

W is Go fast toward low people and attack them fast press it to make ww imagine someone is low.

E is reduce damage then fear people around.

R is jump on someone and stun the first person , the faster you go , the longer you jump.

can go any dumber and the champions feels good.

You know, I feel like riot is at this point in time where they are trying to make every new champ too complex or playing around with ideas that just shouldn't be in the game. Like stealing items and summoners (zoe) or stealing ultimates (sylas) or stealing appearances of allies(neeko), or an AD CARRY SUPPORT, or a MELEE SUPPORT ASSASSIN. It's just ridiculous. Furthermore, if they keep releasing champions like this they are doomed to be nerfed to uselessness forever and forgotten or literally just ignored and kept in the spotlight because riot wants them to be there. Because they're anti fun toxic champions.

KFCeytron11/25/2019, 11:29:03 PM3 votes

They left that behind a long time ago. For example, when facing Sylas, you not only have to know his four teammates' ults, you also have to know your four teammates' ults. This is just the newest and most extreme example so far. The next champ or rework will be even more ridiculous. It's unbalanceable, but that's no longer a concern. LoL is just a game, and it makes money by being flashy and interesting.

I'm gonna be honest, I don't understand how he's hard to read from an outside perspective. Yeah, he's got a lot of words, but they're all words describing a lot of very simple things. "This rifle has long range." "This flamethrower has an AoE." "This gravity ball slows." Really, excruciatingly simple concepts, and the only complex thing is the sheer number of them. But even that's not a problem for a player facing him, because you don't NEED to keep an article up on the second monitor to know what he's doing because he can only do a third of that at any given time! Y'all are blatantly misunderstanding the concept of "Burden of Knowledge." It's not about word count, it's about clarity. "Rupture damages you if you move" is the thing they bring up, and that's a six word, nine syllable sentence.

Fortunately, Riot abandoned the ridiculous idea of burden of knowledge a while ago.

ITT : People who are complaining about Aphelios because players need to learn what his kit does, like every other friggin champ in the game

Ensign Torpedo11/25/2019, 10:48:42 PM1 votes

The "Burden of knowledge" refers to ADCs top that are supposed to be able to be countered but only after a few games you do realise it's pointless to even show up on lane and you'll be better off supporting mid with a supp item that works on your champion. I'm not lying, this is exactly how the term was created.
