Heimerdinger vs. Shen

Shen's W is supposed to block all auto-attacks, including that of minions, monsters and pets. If Heimerdinger's turrets count as pets, why do their attacks, most notable his ultimate turret's damage still go through, even though the damage can be blocked by dodge (Jax's E)?
