New Champ select is awesome, but one issue..

I really don't understand why riot added the "pref" champion select prior to banning.. like seriously, two games today, a person in lobby asked to trade positions, and when replied no, that guy asking banned that person's champion so they can't do the role.. making a toxic match from the start.

I've been having to take the precaution of locking into something random in pref so my own teammates DON'T know what I'm going with incase I get troll banned. I really don't see the point in the "pref" system at all in the champ select. Is the strategy to play mindgames with your allies? cause that doesn't seem like something useful to me.

Anybody else have these issues? also where's my ward skins?
