i can't play leblanc. at all.

So I realized that I can get a hang of most champs by now via watching spotlights, checking out a build/guide, and just playing smart and safe. The first time I played LeBlanc wasn't too bad because, like I said, I play safe (maybe not always smart) and I didn't feed the other team early on. I didn't expect much from my first experience, but it was still shaky since we were completely demolished by the end of the game so I decided to practice on beginner bots. That went pretty okay and I watched some Faker plays + looked up what people suggested for "combos" beforehand so I thought I was beginning to get a hold of LeBlanc. I didn't expect to be a pro at her, but I expected to at least get a kill in my lane by the next non-bot game which didn't happen.

I played a couple of my LeBlanc games (I've probably played about 4 to be honest) with a friend. He bought LeBlanc a few weeks ago. The first time he played LeBlanc he was really struggling (more than I did) which was surprising for me at the time since my friend tends to be really versatile in playing champions. He ended up learning her by a couple games though and he tried to give me tips when I was playing her, but it went so badly every time. He got frustrated with me and started saying, "Why are you able to play Diana, but not LeBlanc?" (Not to say LeBlanc and Diana are completely the same, but I can play pretty decently with Diana and I really like playing with her plus she plays a lot like an assassin so that's the comparison he's making)

I'm pretty sure I've lost every game I've played with her so far. I know you guys are probably thinking, "Oh well you haven't played her enough!" Ya'll don't understand that my entire team gets demolished every game I play with LeBlanc so far. Completely destroyed. Coincidence? Or maybe a sign from God that I can never play this champ. Also, like I said, I can't even get one kill with her during laning phase. I keep trying to w e q but I miss the e and/or the q 90% of the time. It's so frustrating and I'm wondering if anyone else had issues with learning her and any tips on her that I may not have heard yet?

How to play LeBlanc:

  1. Walk into lane.

  2. Start farming.

  3. Any time someone tries to farm, mash buttons while hovering your mouse over them.

  4. Repeat 3 until they die.

  5. When you have your first AP item, proceed to one-shot people left and right.

  6. Win.

First game with LB, had no idea what I was doing, what to build, and I went 19/0 against a Yasuo. She's a no-skill, no-thought champion that is FAR too strong for how little effort she takes, but Riot loves that reverse concept of effort/reward (easy champs are strong, hard champs (Azir, etc) are pathetic).

Q-w for basic bursts, don't try to pull off a w-e-q, that's complicated, for better bursts, do Q-R-W or Q-W-R, chain before or after, lb does lots of damage, start dorans, rush morello, and you can roam forever.. Roaming on assassins is important, you want to get your other lanes ahead so you DON'T get demolished, make sure to ward and ping mia too, this will help your team, too. item 3285 Is very strong on her, but don't just rush it until you have a source of mana (preseason no mana pots :c) like item 3165 oritem 3174 , The more cdr you have, the better. Remember, keep it basic, don't try to just run away from them for fun (even though its fun) , utilize your abilities, LB is a very mobile assassin that's hard to catch, make jukes, and use your clone to its abilities, your e is a escape and an engage, your w is the same.. MAX W FIRST.. this will give you more damage then maxing Q and more utility.

Just watch Siv HD play Leblanc. He does the best plays and details his recommended builds for each season (spoiler alert, the best build truly is 5 rods of ages with boots).

I've struggled with learning her, too. Main things that have helped:

  1. The hitbox on E is a little wonky. You have to aim slightly off-center.

  2. Straight-line skillshot champs wreck you if you rely too heavily on W and W-combos. Against an Ahri, Lux, Brand, etc you'll want to focus on QRE combos and save W for jukes and chasing. If you W straight toward them, they'll land everything on you, and you'll die.

  3. Scaling CDR glyphs + Morello is plenty of CDR.

  4. Juking is easy on LB, but it takes some practice to not panic when you're new. It's easy to get in the habit of returning to your W pad immediately to get out of harm's way, but the longer you wait, the more disorienting it is. If you're in the open, run away from your mark for 1 or 2 seconds before returning.

  5. Remember that you can W through jungle walls. You're gr8 b8, and a lot of champs with blinks will follow you through the wall, so kite them to your jungler, b8 their blink. Return to your pad on the other side, and you're safe while they're stuck.

  6. LB's aa animation takes getting used to. I miss a shitload of CS if I pick her up after playing ADC, melee, or support for a while. AA full-health minions a few times at the beginning of each game to get adjusted to the timing of it.

  7. Leblanc has the most single-target spells of any mage in the game. Nearly all mage skills are tagged as aoe because they pierce, spread, bounce, or affect an actual area. This means that LB actually gets full value from DFT, spellvamp, and corruption potion, which adds a lot of value to Q and E-based combos. For example, DFT adds a .37 AP ratio to a full E, giving it a 1.37 ratio on a single skill.

Diana is nothing like leblanc ,with diana you can engage on the enemy mid laner without much worry because of her w,stick on them and finish them off with your passive, with leblanc you have way less room for error and if you missplay and dont kill the enemy and dont react fast enough to W back, you probably will die my main champs are diana ahri and leblanc, and although im still a noob i can do pretty well with leblanc on my level the best tip about leblanc is knowing which ability to mimic in what situation ,these are the basic "combos" 1.Highest potential damage - this will probably 100-0 most squishies but will require you to be in close range -Q-R-W-(E) ( you can also start this combo with e if you think the q-r-w wont be enough ,or think your enemy will escape ) this is the ideal combo you would want to land to assasinate a full health target

  1. This combo isnt as much damage as the first but is for when you see an injured target thats moderatley far away and you need to gap close, just make sure the mimicked w hits -w-r-q-e

3.You want to lock down a tank in a teamfight -e-r-q--w (wait for the first e to finish so you can chain the cc )

4.Enemies are saturated in a team fight - w -r into the fight and w back to safety - this can be huge in a teamfight if the enemy team is bunched up

practice hitting your e - this will lockdown a target ,landing this in lane after 6 is deadly as you can just chan your combos and the enemy can do nothing

note : mimicked w does a ton of damage (double normal w ) use this in teamfights to chunk down enemys ,normally w -r and get back to safety but if you see theres an enemy low enough to kill you and you can risk staying in the teamfight q - e

tip- if you can ,use q before every ability,it will amplify the damage hope this helped! leblanc is a ton of fun and really powerfull, goodluck!

my favorite champion :D here some quick tips

  • don't use E much in lane, it wrecks your mana. save it for the all in/kill and/or to escape ganks.
  • Last hitting with doran's is essential to give you mana sustain to continue harass
  • level 3 put a 2nd point in Q or W unless you level up during a gank or are certain they are low enough and that you can land the chain for a kill.
  • leveling W first is nice for waveclear if your lane is even or they are pushing on you. if you have dominance, leveling Q is nice for greater harass
  • careful when using W. without it you are easily ganked for quite a while. It can also unwittingly push your lane allowing your opponent a nice freeze near their turret. if you are using W to kill minions, typically you'll wanna AA them low enough to finish them off with the W. NOT W first then finish with autos. too slow and you are more likely to miss minions. Also, this way, once you finish them off with W, your escape is gone...so you can back off after you return to W.
  • level 2, 3 (if you put 2 points in Q or W), & 6 are her sweet spots. great times to all in with ignite. Also, at level 1, Q + aa's can deal a surprising amount of damage. Espeically against melee champs, you can often soften them with 3-4 Q's and several auto attacks, which many times if you hit 2 first, a simple Q W ignite will give you first blood. don't underestimate her auto-attacks! (guess this goes for any champ). but leblanc has a crisp AA imo once you get used to it. W at level one is more burst/flat damage. However, it uses more mana, and if you can land 3-4 Q's you will ultimately spend less mana and deal more damage.
  • massive lane bully unless playing against a counter. (Kassadin Morgana Diana seem to be the most difficult match ups i've encountered)...a good Yasuo or Malzahar is also problematic. So you need to gain advantage in lane and/or by roaming. She peaks mid game, probably around level 12 or so. So you need to create quite a lead during this time or late-game will be challenging. Not to say she completely falls off (you can still 1 combo squishies), but at this mid game point, if you are farmed you can typically 1-combo almost anyone except the tankiest champions who rushed MR.
  • as for landing the chain, that's just practice. But it's similar to Blitz Q. You want to surprise them and land it instantly (most often after you W on top or right near them) so they have no time to juke. Once you get the hang of it, W Q E is better than W E Q because the mark pops instantly, and you can return to W if you need to or don't care about the chain pop. It's a somewhat slow projectile, so you will have to slightly lead in the direction they will evade.
  • CDR is KEY. i almost always run 40% on her unless i absolutely need MR glyphs. 1st item = item 3174 item 3165 (typically morellos...since she is so slippery you shouldn't need the defenses if you are careful...id probably grab athenes though if they have 3 AP threats). 2nd item = item 3089 or item 3135 (typically death cap unless 3+ members have bonus of say 30-40 MR). 3rd item = the 2nd item you didn't get. Finish with situational items. HG or Ludens are nice. Late game i would recommend a defensive item of some sort, with 4 damage items you shouldn't need a 5th to do your job. Also, lots of people like 2nd item Ludens for poke. I prefer death cap for the raw damage (if you 1 shot them poke is unnecessary). try both see what you like.
  • combos are pretty straight forward but again this is just practice to see what will be most effective given the situation. maximum damage combo which is somewhat slow to carry out, but will allow you to 1 combo even bruisers and tanks if you are fed would be: W(make sure damage hits on them), Q E R Q (using the mimic E to pop your 2nd Q...you may need to wait a second before casting the 2nd chain, but if you landed the first and it pops, you can't miss the 2nd). throw ignite in there if needed.
  • W R combo is nice in team fights if squishies are stacked. otherwise just flank a carry and Q R W. or W Q R E if need to close more distance.
  • Beware of hard CC when you go in. you want to get in and out killing a carry before anyone realizes what happened. IF you get hard CC when you try to kill a carry in a team fight, you will probably die. Sweeper is usually needed to make sure they don't know where you're coming from.
  • honestly practice is what you need, combos and realizing the ideal combo given the situation need to become muscle memory.

GL hmu if you have any specific questions, always love to discuss my fav champ
