Xerath Support
i've seen it on of couple times on streams, and i have read he is decent at the role. but is he worth picking up? Can he play well in ranked?

He is somewhat similar to Pantheon: he is picked in kill lanes.
Xerath is a champion that provides lots of reliable poke Damage at the cost of having little Utility. His play pattern is that of a bully, where he consistently shoves people out of lane. Combined with a poke ADC like Miss Fortune, Jhin or Cait, he is very annoying.
However, if he fails at destroying the enemy bot lane, he will be pretty much useless. He will lack the gold for his mandatory items, his base Damage is mediocre and, again, he lacks utility compared to most other mages in the bot lane.
Overall, I would only use him as a counterpick to weak early game bot lanes and talk with my ADC to pick a poke champ to smash the opponent. But I wouldn't blind pick him at all.
If you're good at hitting skill shots and you know how to zone an opponent, yea hes really good. Give it a try. If you can, have some1 to play Jhin with you on bot. Him and Xerath are a nasty combo.
theres no fault with picking xerath at all... good damage, good poke, good pressure with use of R his only problem is the reliabitlity of hitting skillshots and dealing with champions who can gap close so easily
yeah hes basically
meets
when it comes to support. He doesnt have the safety lux has or the damage brand has but he still does ok. Generally either lux or brand would be a better choice depending on enemies but if youre good with xerath then hes probably your best choice out of the 3. Id rate him as C tier whereas id rate lux and brand B tier.
Xerath is about as good of a support as Vel'koz -- both champions have a slow, a stun, waveclear, long range, lots of poke...but they're also both fairly useless if they fall behind. Vel'koz is viable as a support though, so Xerath would be too. Considering my other support champion pool
I might have to pick him up as a support at some point.
he is definitely viable, but since you will push your enemy under their tower most of the time, you should pay extra attention to the enemy jgl so you don´t throw your lead away by getting ganked.
He is good as long as the enemy doesm't have
, he can't stop him for killing his carry and himself.
Support xerath however is good against other mage supports like
and
because his Q poke is really strong. His mana regen passive also enables him to use his spells more frequently. I myself play Support
from time to time. Yes, the damage might be bland amd unsatisfying but at least his early poke helps your carry's cause for lane dominance. Apparently some people think mage supports aren't viable but they're wrong. Everything is viable as lomg as you have good synergies and good match ups. :)
