Can Riot make a poll for players to vote on what to update?
Would be kinda cool if they had something with direct community feedback, but there's 2 things that are pretty important to keep in mind with a poll:
-
Forum voices are a representation of a vocal minority and not the majority.
-
Politics in general are largely jacked-up because people that care are emotionally tied to something and interesting things are often subjective. Objective people usually don't care that much/aren't very vocal about it, and objectively good moves are usually kind of boring.
Also - on the HUD in particular, every art update isn't done by the same team or type of artist.
graphic design, illustration, 3D moddeling/texturing, rigging, animation, concept art, and game design are all different jobs done by different people.
HUD and web-layout is graphic design, splash-art is illustration, game design is abilities/kit/level design, rigging is setting up a model to be animated, 3D moddeling/texturing is making 3D moddels and texturing them, concept art is mostly creating thumbnails and rough sketches (not illustrating swag stuff), and animation animating.
My point here is a HUD update isn't really draining manpower from the art-teams involved with champion reworks.
Champion reworks are mostly based on how soon a game designer can really get a kit to feel right and work, which, from what I've read in AMA posts from designers, is a ~6+ month process. Outside of animation, the other artists probably don't need to spend more than a week on their respective tasks for a champion update.
All that said: it would be interesting to see what the community wants with a large, heavily supported poll.
Especially one that takes little effort to vote, so more people are inclined to do so.
Riot couldn't fallow it religiously, but it could be interesting to see.
Would reeeeeeeaaaaaaallly like them to bring back Autumn and/or Winter Summoner's Rift. Or do something wild like Shurima Rift or pool-party/tropical rift. Really miss the days when you could land in any of 3 different maps, pretty much obliterated the monotony of being in the same map over and over again.
