The most defeating issue with solo queue

I know the season is rolling to a conclusion and all in all its been a good year of league. Lots of innovations were made and balance seems to be "getting there". I have a big issue with solo queue though, especially pertaining to afks. Now I'm not talking about "rage quitters". Statistically I'm probably just as likely to lose the game with them in it, so that isn't my issue. My issue is queuing for my promos, spending 5mins at character select, and then loading into a 4v5 with no hope of victory. I guess I'm just wondering if Riot has any plans to address issues like these in the future, as it just seems like a huge waste of everyone's time. Sorry for the long winded rant.
