Zyra - questions and issues.

Just picked up Zyra (I'm finishing out my support collection) and started playing team builders for practice I got a good number of games in amd a, ready to comment.

My thoughts having played many other supports:

Her root is short, Lux, Morg are better. Her base health is really really low. - Any one with a gap closer can make an instant kill out of her if she dose not flash, Z Glass or use all the cool downs (Even that's not a given.) Her ult is powerful but feels lackluster in many fights, the 2 second delay makes using it some what tricky (to be expected) and the stun is really short and applies no slows. (It's cooldown makes up for many of these short falls)

I am having a lot of fun playing her, however she is really really vulnerable and most of all her E is a really weak defense move.

I's she up for a rework or getting addressed any time?

No, she's fine really. She was actually really strong on release, and her level 6 combo killed most mid laners. However, ever since they brought her down to bot lane to support, she's been nerfed because she deals quite a lot of damage. Her kit makes her a pokey sort of support (like Karma), and you use her E if people get too close to you or if you want to try to trade damage.

Also, if they're on top of you, you unload your whole kit and hope that your burst kills them before they kill you.

  • Leveling E first will increase the duration

Her base health is really really low. - Any one with a gap closer can make an instant kill out of her if she dose not flash, Z Glass or use all the cool downs (Even that's not a given.)

  • If you don't land your E or are to close get the hell out.

Her ult is powerful but feels lackluster in many fights, the 2 second delay makes using it some what tricky (to be expected) and the stun is really short and applies no slows. (It's cooldown makes up for many of these short falls)

  • Use it as a disengage never as a engage. Your roots are great for engages and following up with your ulti is devastating.

You should not compare individual champion skills and look at whole kits instead. As others have said, Zyra is fine.

Zyra is about her seeds and plants. Her Q and E are slightly underpowered when used without seeds. However, They're very strong with seeds.

Others have said some of the same but just to reiterate:

All three examples you gave fit into a basic archetype: AP Mage. Specifically, an immobile AP Mage. Other champs similar to this might be Syndra, Veigar, etc. As opposed to Mobile AP Mages (which generally mean they're assassins) such as Ahri or Lux.

However, even within that classification there is a huge range of diversity; Lux provides long range damage, Morgana is about either comboing a target down or just jumping in with her ult (better used as a counter initiation, unless she lands a snare), but Zyra exceeds in zoning and area control. No one scatters like they do when Zyra drops her ult. She excels at AoE disruption, and if ignored, can put out strong damage over a teamfight.

Basically, she does exactly what she's designed to do. All of her drawbacks are deliberate
