Mobility in League - What are your thoughts?

This has been posted numerous times across the boards, but I'd like to make a summary thread of what people think about this shifting meta and the rise of hyper mobile champions. For example, Riven's Q's, Kalista's Martial Poise, Ahri's ult, Zed's ult/execute, Leblanc's everything, Fiora's speed ability (forgot name), even Nidalee's Pounce/Hunt. I have a TL;DR at the bottom, and the Veigar section isn't necessary to understand my point.

> My opinion: > First off, I'm going to say that I LIKE the new high mobility champions. Yes, Riot is right, it does add more complexity and makes positioning even harder, but it's beneficial to the game -- to an extent. Certain champions like Nidalee require her pounce to effectively execute enemies (but can also get her killed if she pounces into a bad fight), Kalista can't go anywhere if she's stunned, etc. For a lot of these champs, CC is the primary counter. Actually, in the rising tank meta, CC is what wins teamfights and games. > > As of now, the best compositions in League consist of a tanky support with stuns/disables/silences, a high mobility ADC, APC assassin midlaner, tanky CC/Slow jungler (Gragas, Nunu, Sejuani, Amumu, Voli, Naut, etc.) However, it is unfair to call out Riot for focusing so much on mobility when you see how their shift has affected the meta. Yes, they HAVE put a ton of emphasis on mobility, but with that they also shoved CC kits into the spotlight. >

// This is my attempt at explaining the Veigar changes and why they make sense // I was a Veigar main pre-kit change. Yes, I loved him. Yes, I had a 75% w/l ratio. No, I didn't like the changes. Yes, a 1.25 second delay on his E is extremely unfair when you look at Annie or other mages with low or non-existent cast times. Yes, cast times and delays add counterplay. No, adding counterplay to a single champion when there are a dozen others with the same problem is not the answer. No, this thread isn't here to rant about the Veigar changes (because I honestly like the new skillshot and ult change). It's because what Riot is doing MAKES SENSE. Veigar IS viable in numerous midlane setups and occasionally support, but that's only because of his kit changes. The lower CD's on Q, E, and R mean he spends less time out of the action, the mana reductions mean he has more sustain comparable to other midlaners. If Riot had never made these changes, Veigar wouldn't be viable in this meta whatsoever. He is still extremely dependent on landing his W, but with the rise of CC junglers, supports, and toplane tanks, Veigar doesn't need to necessarily land his stun. With a good team, Veigar can excel both early and late game.

TL;DR Shifting to tank+mobility has inadvertently led to the rise of CC (skillshot) filled kits, effectively balancing each other out and creating a healthier meta (likely the best I've seen since joining in 2012).

What are your opinions? Would you rather see less CC and less mobility? What is your dream comp? Do you like this new meta? What changes would you make if you were at the head of the Riot Balance Team?

Thanks, Offended/SpaghettiSquid

My thoughts on Annie, Tibbers is an Ult, her ult reliability is offset by the ult cooldown. And even if her ult is still a problem you can still adjust the Cooldown of her Ult.

From a Support stand point, I'd say she's fine, perhaps slightly more damage and reliability than a sona ult, though sona has a lot more utility than Annie. I only assume that people are complaining about her AP build which I almost always restrict as a yoloQ problem.

In general, higher burst and more reliable CC is a good compromise for the lack of mobility. This mostly assumes that said CC has an Appropriate down time. The main reason behind more reliable CC is that they need the ability to zone. They should be able to zone when their abilities are up, and vulnerable when they are down.
