@Meddler The State of Immobile Mages

What are your thoughts on the state of immobile/traditional mages - the likes of Brand, Vel'Koz, Anivia, Lux, Syndra etc.. They fit perfectly in the "working fine" category and will likely continue to do so if no changes are made to them. However, most of these guys lie just outside the competitive scene with few appearances in comparison to their more mobile or utility heavy brethren.

With the concerted effort in updating "almost there" champions are there any ideas floating around that can push these guys into the competitive scene or just interesting mechanics you feel you can push these guys to the next level/increase interesting play patterns?
