Thoughts on Kai'Sa -- gameplay wise

PROs:

  • I LOVE that she can build so many items. The hybrid build feels so good and it's a breath of fresh air to see some items besides item 3087 item 3031 in the botlane! Really opens up her ability to be flexible and work as an assassin/ADC and even Mage.

  • Great model. A lot of people hating on her from a lore perspective but in game her model looks fantastic and serves to look like a void creature despite being a human. Her particles are also pretty damn good.

  • Fun. Extremely fun champ. Her playstyle matches my own perfectly and I think that she will definitely be added to my roster. Running around blasting people with purple rockets and goo balls is pretty damn fun.

CONs:

  • Her ult is very problematic. The cooldown is pretty massive for what it does. I think the cooldown should be changed to 20/15/10 + 2 seconds for every 100 units dashed. Want to ult someone across the lane? Okay, but it's going to bump up your CD by 40 seconds. Want to do a little reposition in a fight? Okay, not as bad. But using a 100+ second cooldown for a long dash and a shield? Doesn't feel great.

  • Her Q feels bad. It feels like it should prioritize enemy champs and low HP minions but it doesn't. I can see why they integrated this from a balance perspective, but not really knowing which targets it will hit is frustrating. Making her more transparent by putting a faint indicator on which creeps/champs it will hit when you use it would be much better without making it too good.

  • W really interupts the flow of her kit and doesn't really fit in with anything but her ult. It's alot like Jinx and Jhin W where using it for anything other than sniping for poke or to execute feels like a waste. Maybe this was intentional, but it makes her feel a bit clunkier on an otherwise very smooth champion.

  • Personal con: I am colorblind and the indicator for her ult (the purple circle) looks almost exactly like Fiora's ultimate for me. I don't see it being much of an issue but maybe give it a more distinct marking so you can tell it's Kai'Sa's?
