I just did my promos, went 6/10 and I get Bronze 5. That just makes me not want to play leagues anymore. If youre going to just throw me in bronze 5 how about you just put me there and have those 10 games i just wasted playing go towards moving up in ranked. To me that makes a hell of a lot more sense then making me do promos that don't mean shit because regardless of how I do you were still going to stick me in Bronze 5. Riot you are worse than Teemo.
Technically, the system works exactly as you express you wanted it to. Unfortunately your MMR was so low that that even moving up its still bronze 5 level MMR. The reset algorithm works as follows (previous season's ending MMR+1200)/2 = reset MMR. Thus, winning 6 of 10 matches in placements would have netted you an approximate 50 point MMR increase meaning your MMR is now reset+50. if your previous season's ending MMR was, say, 500ish (not at all uncommon for bronze players no matter what the League System displayed ranking) your reset MMR would have been about 850. Add about 50 to that and you get 900 MMR, or still bronze 5 MMR. With the way the league system functions it is entirely possible to achieve a ranking displayed that is much higher than the MMR average of players at that ranking, again, not at all uncommon in bronze.

What riot doesn't tell you is promos don't really matter much.
If he had 6 wins though I figure 5 or 6 wins should have him in B1 again. I wonder if there is a bug.
Well op.gg is messing up for me right now, so I went digging around on Lolking instead. Currently, your lolking score is displayed as about 950, which roughly translates to about 950 MMR, or pretty much exactly the MMR range I described you would likely be at and one that correlates to the lower end of bronze.
Chin up mate, put your nose to the grindstone and put in some work and you'll be where you want to be as long as you put in the effort to continue to improve every day.
