Hey guys I hit level 30 but before I play ranked I just wanted to know on how many lanes should you need to know when you play ranked. Do I need to play them all? Any feedback will be helpful :)

Before I answer your question, I'm going to suggest that you don't do ranked right away, for 2 reasons. 1) Season 4 just ended, so there is really no point. 2) Ranked is a lot tougher than normals, and I made the mistake of starting right at level 30 and it went awful.

But anyways, it helps to know how to play the role you like, support, and one other role. Since it's draft pick, you don't get to choose your role unless you are ahead of someone else who wants it. That said, it's not impossible to get mid if you are last pick, but it's highly unlikely. So it helps to be versatile in your roles, because you never know what you may get stuck with.

I would suggest learning a few more roles and getting used to them and start ranked when season 5 starts. Hope this helps!

Hey there shinigami! Congrats on hitting lvl 30, I was silver 3/4 ranked last season and I started ranked on a whim. I mained adc until lvl 25, switched to mid lane and became a support main. I would work on lane phase, farming, and at least know 3 champions per lane. (you don't have to play them well, but at least get the basics down) Make sure you know the difference between AP and AD, know how to adapt to a situation (changing your build), and be a team player! Elo hell is a beast to get through but you can do it. Good luck summoner!

Gotta play them all at least well enough to not feed horribly. I would recommend you chill in normals until you know how to play at least 2 champions for each role.

As a practical matter, I would generally recommend you get really good at one role, pretty good at two others, and just be able to tread water on the last two. Because it's pretty likely you will need to support at some point, make it one of the roles that you're at least "pretty good" at.

It's best to have about 2-3 champions you have experience on in each role, and at least some experience with all of them, but put the majority of your focus on mastering 1-2 roles if you're wanting to really climb the ladder. Specialization is key to gaining rank.
