Champs that you don't realize are gonna get major rework at some point
So a couple years ago I made a thread outlining the champs that people didn't really think about when it came to who would get a rework. Since it's been a while and several champs have been officially placed on the list or acknowledged by Riot, I thought I'd go over this again.
Keep in mind that these are not based on which champs I hate or anything of the sort (Otherwise
would be at the top of this list). I'm basing this off of Riot's past statements and reworks.
Leona does one thing and she does it very well, going ham and locking down the enemy. The reason Riot will someday rework Leona is that she's the most one dimensional champ in the game and if her team is behind then her effectiveness goes down. I don't see them changing much about her though, it would probably be something like what they did with Alistar. She just needs something to do when she can't go in. So overall, it's just her extreme binaryness that would lead to Riot reworking her.
Zilean, as much as he may be perfectly fine right now, is going to get reworked at some point. His passive is still not the greatest in the world and his model is showing its age. Plus they need to rework him so they can make this his dance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSbRI774zz4
I can even see how they can redo him easily with giving him a new W and making his passive have a mechanic that reduces his cooldowns.
The problem with Vi is that she only ever comes into the meta due to item or jungle changes and its never for the right reason which is her having some kind of niche to her kit that makes her valuable, it's usually just because she's so good and jumping on someone and hitting them till they fall down. I'd like to see them play up her attitude of giving no shits about anything that gets in her way, maybe make her Q smash through terrain? But mainly they'll rework her to make her more distinct from other fighters.
This is kind of a distinctiveness issue too but J4 has been suffering for a while. Currently the best way to play him, from what I've seen of J4 players, is to build him more as an AD assassin that nukes someone down than as a real, get in the fray, fighter. His passive is especially dull, now before you start typing it up, YES, it is a useful passive, but Riot has been trying to phase out passives like his where its just extra damage or tankiness without much thinking behind it. I'd like it if they emphasized his flags a little more in how they're a rallying point rather than just being a way for him to Q into someone. J4 is fortunately, hardly the worst offender of "generic fighter syndrome" so they probably won't have to change him heavily.
Even though he's currently got his niche of being the magic damage marksman, he needs a general tune up like Tristana got, both visually and kit wise. His kit could be a lot cooler with just a few touch ups to his abilities visuals and mechanics like making his Q leave behind a cloud that obscures the area from enemies.
Nidalee is in a similar camp to Ryze in that Riot has tried to adjust and rework her a lot and its never worked out in the end and the things that make her frustrating to play against never get alleviated. She's probably up for a Sion level rework as her kit is pretty old and a lot of the things in it aren't very distinctive for her. The only two things people remember about Nidalee are her javelins from the fog of war chunkinjg you and her hopping away from anyone trying to catch her. So a large scope rework for this one, I really can't see Riot doing anything else after all the time they've spent trying to tweak her with small scope changes to little effect.
So, agree, disagree, feel free to challenge my choices. I'm open to having my mind changed.
