The Reason I Think Ashe Is Underplayed
Disclaimer: This is not a hate thread or a ermergherd buff them! This is something that I have come to point out and would love to here some good discussion about.
ADC’s seem to be balanced around 3 things:
- Damage
- Mobility
- Utility
IMO, the reason Ashe is considered underpowered right now is that she is only good (by ADC standards) in one of these categories: Utility. Ashe has no steroids, making her damage pretty low compared to other meta picks. She also has no dash, speed up, or mobility besides the potential kite enemies. The problem here is that her “mobility” is circumstantial. Some enemies can be more easily kited than others. Now, there ARE other immobile ADC’s (jinx, Kogmaw, etc). The thing here is that those ADC’s are good in 2 categories rather than Ashe’s 1.
For example, Jinx’s only mobility is her passive, which isn’t reliable 100% of the time. However, she has a massive steroid, which makes her damge very high. Jinx also has good utility, with a snare and a long range slow. This same could sai for Kogmaw. Percentage health damage, an AOE slow ult that grants vision, altogether a high damage high utility ADC with 0 mobility.
Now let’s look at some of the more mobile ADC’s:
Lucian: Known for being highly mobile and for dealing a lot of damage with his passive and abilites. However, he lacks ANY utility. No slows, stuns, snares, etc.
Kalista: Highly mobile champ, probably the most mobile of all ADC’s. Has a dash every AA. Has mobile wards and a slow that can affect mutiple people. However, no steroid that grants her extra AS or damage.
See the pattern forming here? Every other ADC is good in 2 of the 3 categories BESIDES Ashe! (May be others that I can’t think of, post below who they are).
As someone who loves playing Ashe I know that the way she is now, she is a very situational pick because she only ever shines in one area.
Once again, I would like to point out that I’m not complaining that Ashe is underpowered or not. I just wanted to share something I noticed, whether it be true or false.
