PROBLEMS of Aatrox's new kit and how to SOLVE them

Disclaimer: Yes, I know that we need to wait two weeks, and no Im not whining. I created this discussion to fairly contribute to this game and my favourite champion that is Aatrox (for who's rework I've been waiting for years). I have some ideas that I want to share, and hope that someone at top will actually notice this, it never hurt if you try. So please, I expect rational debating and discussion on this topic. I truly want Aatrox to become better, and for his kit to match his personality. Thank YOU!

Okay... So after playing new Aatrox for almost two days straight, I must say. His kit is very... lacking. It has potential, but it always feel like new Aatrox lacks something to be more effective. Let's break down problems of his current kit first:

First Problem: He can be good (not great) in early laning phase, If you know how to use his abilities smartly in a beautiful combo, strictly 1v1, and if your opponent lacks brain cells to move smartly according to the aoe of your Qs (even if you combine it with E, dodging his Qs in time becomes a no-minder once you learn move pattern, since he cant rly move while casting them, unlike Darius or Cammile, predicting and dodging moving pattern of ther similar abilites is possible, yet if they outsmart your prediction during animation of their abilities, and move smartly to catch you in that "sweet spot", you've been played, But that's not Aatrox's case. Sure, he can still reposition his Q with his E, but its always strictly one dirrection and always the same range, that's why if you have seen it enough times, it becomes easy to read his total aoe that can be used with his Q+E combo, and therefore evade his every Q cast.

Second Problem: Aatrox's abilities HEAVILY rely on each other for him to be remotly effective, and for him to trully be able to kill someone, it is essential that his every ability works correctly and always LANDS on his victims, because If it so happens that you need to use his one E, to evade possible skillshot (root/stun/etc.), or move through obstacle (wall), afterwards proceeding to punish your target can be problematic, since truly landing his Qs to deal maximum damage, and having only 1 E to reposition Q, in case if his victim doesn't stand still (for some reason), or doesn't use their dash, or ms buff, etc, is almost impossible, especially if its a teamfight. Additionaly Aatrox becomes useless in teamfight, if he misses even ONE of his abilities, because CDs on his every ability is far too giant.

Third Problem: Q being the only sourse of his main damage (also his passive that has like 20 sec cd, and can be used on a single enemy... Strange, since his Q is build around aoe, so it is obvious that he is designed to battle against multiple foes). As its mentioned in second problem, if he misses even one Q, its gg, and for it being his only true damage ability, he has no other means to battle his enemies (especially in teamfight), and then you have no other options but just to die out in the end, he doesn't have any effective evade ability, and even if he has his ult he won't pose any real danger that would force enemy team to prioritize in killing him during his ultimate, much like Zillian's ult, Aatrox's ult can be waited out before it expires, for enemy team to kill him for good, and that leads us to the next problem...

Fourth Problem: His ultimate. Realy one ability to improve them all, but it doesn't. All it does realy is giving you boots of mobility (with same exact passive) for 1 second (lol), a little bit of damage and fills up his blood well. (also fears minion's in a moment it's cast, which is mostly pointless, since you will cast it to get faster to the teamfight, aka away from any enemy minions that would matter, so mostly this effect is for aesthetics (useless)). It also makes him look bigger, like in the teaser, it would make you think that aoe of his Qs would be bigger during his ultimate! But sadly no, no matter how much sense and positive effect on his kit it would make, no. About his blood well and ability to reviwe, it happened tons of time to me, when during teamfight your BW is almost filled and you have 1% hp left untill the Revive, and then ultimate suddenly ends and Soraka's bananna kills the immortal god-killer, so much for "Behold IMMORTALITY", it's almost comical. Even if they manage to kill you, and you manage to revive, if you managed to die during the cast of your Q, Revive process strips you naked of all your damage abilities, that would give you a chance to defend yourself after you have been revived (I mean, just his Q, lol), which still makes you easy to kill. (At least in the latest buff of classic Aatrox, on revive he recieved max filled blood well, which gave him humongous bonus attack speed that was essential for his kit, and some attack damage). Ability to move during Revive, sadly is almost useless, since he moves about as fast as dismounted Kled.

I've covered essential problems, but there is more, and I don't want to waste your time reading minor problems, that would simply go away if Riot will fix those 4.

Now, lets see ideas that I came up with to solve those problems:

First (and my favourite) Idea: Reverse his first 2 Qs "sweet spots". If Riot realy want to maintain and support Aatrox's personality of deadly demon filled with rage and lust for destruction, they realy should get rid of all that "keeping distance for maximum effect, strategy game style" that would suit Swain's personality. With such character as Aatrox, you would like to keep him as far away from yourself as possible (because right now, champion that has even a little bit of tankiness, can get as close to Aatrox as possible (tank his final Q), and Aatrox would not be able to do anything about it, other than accept punishment. Make his Qs "sweet spots" cover area that is closest to Aatrox (except his final Q), it would make his kit so much more effective and his abilities more corresponsive with each other (his W, E, his Ult having a MS buff), Aatrox's goal would be to get closer to his victimes at any cost (much like classic Aatrox). Additionaly make the edge of his "sweet spots" (that are current "sweet spots") slow his enemies, much like his classic E, it would fit beautifully together. (Phage effect on his main item (Black Cleaver) would make sense now, since Aatrox would always strive to pursue his enemies and be closer to them). This idea would finaly give Aatrox oppertunity to fight someone like Riven, Tryndamere, Fiora and Yi, and with his personality and looks, I would say that Aatrox is the one that would be able to fight each of them with no problem.

Second Idea: Additional effects to his ult. Make his Qs "sweet spots" to cover all the aoe of his Qs during his ultimate, that would make him much more effective in teamfights, when everything is flashing on screan and positions of champions constantly change in seconds, his ult would allow him not to struggle with positioning right "sweet spots" to the right enemy and just attack everything and everyone at the same time with maximum effectiveness, that would actually make him top priority to kill for the enemy team, (And for his Revive to make sense) since it would make him great danger for the whole team. (also being able to go 1v5 fits Aatrox's idea like no other champion). OR! Make his Blood Well heal him at the end of his ult if he didn't recieve fatal damage, that would exclude stupid situations like the one I mentioned in fourth problem. OR!! Make him able to move during his Q casts, (like Darius or Cammile) duing ult. Would make things easier for him during teamfights and would also make him less predictable.

Third Idea: Make his W affect every enemy champion that happened to be in the aoe at the time it appears. If you are lucky enough it would position multiple enemies in the spot that you need to land your Qs on them all, which would greatly increase his effectiveness in teamfights.

Fourth (simple/boring one) Idea: give him few adjustments: Increase healing from his abilities, decrease CDs of his abilities, buff his basic stats to make him more tanky (HP, armor, mr).

Phew I think that's all I wanted to mention. PLEASE, I expect rational debating and discussion on this topic. I truly want Aatrox to become better, and for his kit to match his personality.

Well for his first Q, its meant as an anti-kite.

It might be better if instead of just moving during every Q, he should only move during his first Q.. maybe. And have reduced movement.

The thing is, people are trying to play him like Riven or old Aatrox. This is a mistake. You have to look at his kit with an open/clear mind. People will do better if they don't try to play him like other champions.

your second suggestion sounds kinda interesting but may just be broken. They'd end up shortening his ults cooldown or shortening its duration or something. May not be worth it.

Maybe if they increased E speed / range while in ultimate.

I'm not saying he may not need some help. I think it's too early to say and you have to be a bit more understanding of the kits original intent.
