Doesn't the current state of adc go against the whole "risk-reward" ideal?
As an adc main for every season I've played I can't help but to be bothered by the fact that my role in its current state is essentially obsolete. After having 300+ games on adc in this season alone it was impossible for me not to notice the trend that if I get fed, I can not afford to make a single mistake lest it cost me my life and often the game, and if I do poorly I can forget about having any impact on the game unless it goes to over 40 minutes; and even then I'm still hoping. This turns the entire system on its head. We're now looking at "extremely high risk, little reward" which is extremely frustrating. There have been so many games where I take a single step out of position and next thing I know there's a
ulting onto me, a
ripping me to shreds, an
nailing me with charm, and a
locking me down for the next year -- only assuming I made it past the malph ult. Yes, poor positioning should be punished, but it shouldn't determine my game the first or second time it happens. It's no wonder bot lane is being filled with champions like
and so forth, because they will always be impactful to some extent. Then there's the infamous tower first blood drawing
to the lane along with the rest of his team (of course I'm still at a loss for why his w was given the secondary effect to begin with).
The reason that I bring this up is because I love this role and I have so much fun with it, but it feels as though its being drowned out of the game due to absurd balancing. Particularly, in my last game I did considerably well in lane (vs
btw), but with the rest of my team did poorly. I was helpless to carry them the same way top laners and junglers carry. For the first time I asked myself, "why do I even play this role?". I quickly caught myself and realized that I play adc because I think its fun, but the matter of fact remains that the lack of reward for good performance is not fun. Yes, I have a lot to learn and there are always things I could do to improve my play, but I have to try so much harder just to earn myself the consistent wins that equally skilled players of other roles enjoy.
What I would really like to see is some TLC for this role so I and many others can enjoy this game to the fullest extent.
P.S. Poll for funsies
