So I play an ok amount of support, I usually ward decently protect carries, try and set up kills etc. Relatively new to support so I'm not sure what to do when your ad is missing ezreal Qs on minions and my mid wont respond to my ganks and top lane just flames the jungler all game and ignores everything.

Just pick Brand Velkoz Lux Pyke or Zyra and carry yourself. If your teammates are dumb and can't do anything right, just take all the resources and itemize full AP and you'll carry, as long as you position correctly in fights and don't get caught!

Dmg, dmg and dmg.

If you don´t want to be "that guy" who plays ap "supports" then I always recommend learning Bard. Not only is his kit really good at bullying and pressuring the map but his build options are also so versatile that you can build practically anything from full support to full Ap depending on what´s needed at the moment.

Zilean is a good option too offering a lot of utility along with dmg and wave clear but can be bullied easier than bard in the early game.

It really depends on who you're playing. Generally it involves snowballing your lane then transitioning to either snowballing the map if you play playmakers or hard carrying teamfights if you don't.

If youre playing a support support, then you really cant. All you can do is minimize your teams mistakes and exasperate the enemy's mistakes.

It is still up to your team to do literally anything with your plays and setups/saves.

If you want to actually hard carry as a support, you need to play someone who can get something done themselves, as well as build selfishly.

I wasn't sure if this was a question or a statement to be honest. If it is a question, then I have to answer this way.

First of all, the state of the game is not great for a support - roaming or otherwise. There are so many solo-carry champions that can solo-lose the game currently that it makes the support role less of a factor than even last season. That is, we are currently seeing games where other lanes can go even - but a "solo-loss" champion can quickly feed their counterpart two to three kills with little to no effort.

Second, avoid or dodge any games where you suspect that you have a team composition that has a less than 50% chance of winning. If you see the usual solo-loss champions in your games, avoid them. Don't even get into games where you know that you as a support will have little to no impact. Have an autofilled ADC who picks Yuumi? Dodge. Sadly right now, this means A LOT of dodging. (Riot, fix your game.)

Third, pick supports that either will help you win the lane outright OR counter other champions in the game - should you get to middle or late game. (Riot seems to be trying to get rid of middle and late game - which is sad because typically this is where supports and adcs have typically shined. But what can you do?) This means taking support champs that can cause damage or engage (e.g., Brand, Zyra, Velkoz, Xerath, Leona, Thresh, Nautilus, etc.). In the alternative, look for supports that can heal, shield or CC for mid and late game. (Janna, Soraka, Nami, Braum, Zilean and Sona fit this latter group - but you want to pick these based on the comps, the player records and the other information you have at hand.)

Fourth, active and early warding is essential. Iron, bronze and silver players, to be honest, have little to no sense of map awareness. But a little vision goes a long way - even if it does trigger the dreaded melee of your team when they are two levels down versus a well-fed opponent. Pick the spots where the next battle will take place. Ward it "safely". Then either recall or get back with the rest of your team.

Fifth, know your builds and build according to the game that you are in or will be in. Pick the runes that fit the comps.

Sixth, if you have an adc that is terrible, don't be afraid to help mid or the jungle instead. (Don't be afraid to /muteall when you do this. by the way.) But do remember that you will be leeching experience from other lanes when you do this.

Seventh, try to be present for the team fights if you can. It's tough trying to put up vision on the baron pit or elder when you know that some genius wants to engage in constructive inting or pull the trigger on a teamfight - but you have to pick your spots. And still try to be at least within range when it does happen.

Eighth, and finally, be ready for the inevitable. Even when you get the jungle, adc and midlaners ahead, they can and often will still blow their leads. If that's the case, re-group and re-marshall your forces. At least, you have a source of income that allows you to afford some mediocre and somewhat useful utility items (which are reduced in power because Riot doesn't want to restrict their use to supports for some bizarre reason) even when your team sucks and can't afford their items.

I would recommend picking a high damage support

Answer: you don’t. If you are substantially better than the enemy team/your team then you shouldn’t play support to carry. It will take more games on support than let’s say mid lane to climb. It’s possible - but slower.

This comes from a few things: you can’t manage waves for your team, you can’t stop your carries from sucking in teamfights or getting caught regardless of how fed you get them, you can’t really do objectives yourself.

Pyke Build full assassin, Sona build full Ap, Lux build Full AP, pick anyone build 1 support item. Make sure said champ has 1 of 3 things or all 3. Burst or massive sustain or a Big Shield. Just blow people up wait for respawn timers and push. win win. Wait that is all lanes.................
