Give sightstone a charge timer?

So like the most annoying thing as a support is running out of charges on your sightstone, especially in lane when you don't get the opportunity to back. So my solution to this is to give the sightstone a charge timer, but only after you have already used up the three or four wards in it. Maybe have it charge one ward every 90 seconds or something. I feel like this would be nice. Not sure about the other league players out there.

I saw somebody suggest that you gain a ward on assist. Pretty cool idea imo.

Then what would be the difference between SS and trinkets? not saying i don't like the idea just think it would be hard to balance.

While we're on the topic, how about we make wards PURCHASABLE again?

My idea is that you get the sightstone because it gives you the ability to use oracles item 3364 this gives you the ability to both keep up with vision in lane and turn down your opposing supporters. So I feel like for the advantage it gives, they shouldn't add the cooldown timer

I'd say no. It's the same as just asking for a 5th ward. Not really a good reason for it other than wanting to be more liberal with "free" wards. Also increases the item's value.

No.

Having to recall to replenish wards is the only chance the other team has to try and run things back it they are getting their nuts in a vice from strong roaming and warding.

Nothing is more infuriating than using all of your wards to gain vision of dragon or baron and then getting them swept away because the other team actually cares about vision control. The worst part? Your team doesn't even bother to sweep or even spend 75 gold to place a permanent ward.

A Charge system would be a bit overboard since Sightstone never running out could be very OP. Someone mentioned getting wards on assists and I think that's a very good idea. Maybe kills and assists because accidentally getting a kill and not getting a ward in return would be sad lol.

sounds like LeeSin buffs (yes some people still build sightstone instead of tracker's knife)

Well, this idea is good, however it causes problems. What about supports that don't need to back, ex: Soraka. Now she has another reason not to back so she just wards and never leaves lane. I mean Janna kinda fits the same boat, but her mana problems kinda restrict her. Its one of those things where, on paper its a great idea, but in practice it brings up a lot of unexpected circumstances. I mean, you basically get perma vision in bot lane or in the enemy jungle because of this change. Kinda defeats the whole point of having charges to begin with. The reason it has 4 charges is so you can place 3 wards and then have a back up, now if you never ran out of wards because of a regen system, whats the point of having 4 wards, then whats the point of having 3. Then Sightstone becomes super busted on jungles like Reksai And Leesin. So many things could happen and then the item is forced to be nerfed just because of how strong the passive is.

Well ya see, here's the issue: If you think back to the mage update, Riot stated they wanted to Supports to have a lot of up-time; which is why they get CDR and Mana regen on almost everything. Problem is, when supports have a lot of up-time, they never return to base (they're not allowed to get gold anyways). Forcing them to back to recharge one of the only items they're allowed to have ensures they have reason to actually follow the ADC back every few minutes (when the ADC buys their latest stat-stick).

Infinite up-time + forced recalls = balanced.

(Now I wait for the sarcasm to bite somebody in the ass.)
