mage rework analysis and sugestions

in this i cover all the 6 major reworks what i think could be done with them as well as discussing which i think are good to rework and which are bad i try to do this objectively not based on what champions i like or dislike. hope you enjoy

Malzahar

-Identifiers --- the voidlings AND their AD ratio pls leave this in place if just for urf mode! :) --- the space aids i mean malefic visions --- the "combo" mentality that you can 100-0 enemies

-changes --- his ult is not competitively viable but he needs to have some kind of catch/combo potential to remain true to himself --- I would change his Q, W and R R--- either have % max health damage and keep the channel OR remove the channel and give him a different type of CC W--- either no more % health damage if you move that to the ult OR keep the percent health damage and give the ult a dif CC type- Q--- make it altogether stronger and longer raged BUT make it an interrupt not a silence (if you want this champ to be both VIABLE and not in need of a massive nerf soon lose the silence those always are to OP on champs that are viable) OR make his kit do WAY less damage and change him to a support mage by making it a GIANT AOE silence.

Vel’Koz

-Identifiers --- LAZER!!!!!!!! --- passive?

-changes --- everything else --- the truth is that other then the people who are long term dedicated vel’koz mains he is not that iconic and is pretty cookie cutter you have a blank slate to work with on his 3 core abilities go to town --- my advice is build him an identity as a tank buster maybe give him more true damage or some % max health damage. Im not sure but I AM SURE shorten his range make his job to bust the unkillable tanks that charge into the team and don’t die it will give him a unique place sort of like vayn of mages.

Brand

-Identifiers --- PASSIVE you MUST KEEP THIS! --- ult? --- the enhanced effects on burning targets

-changes --- this one is easy leave basic abilities MOSTLY alone and make it so his kit is FOCUSED on applying his passive to people the reward for landing an ability on someone who is burned should NOT be more damage it should be more rewarding and harder to do and his R make it NOT BOUNCE AT ALL if not burning BUT make it bounce FOREVER until hits someone not brning (or something to that effect) --- TL;DR Brand will be bad if u can’t use his passive right and AWESOME if u can micro the passive well and get of a great ult.

Vladimir

-Identifiers --- SUSTAIN --- pool --- gets tanky

-changes --- some might say that you cant change his Q and passive I don’t think that is NECISARILY true more important is to keep the idea of being a safe sustain based champ who gets tanky for a mage if you can do this wile changing the q and passive to something else that reflects this then go for it --- Q can be changed but is fine --- E I would definitely make this something that can be used in team fights more often and is more visible and rewarding feeling BUT make it VERY short rage so that vlad has to be in the fight a brusier like any AD top lane bruiser that is the playstyle for vlad --- R DEFINTILY change this. Right now it is just a stat and one that if the number is high its OP and low who cares. I would change this to be maybe a steroid that makes him able to be in the middle of a teamfight longer? Or if not I would make it something that deals A LOT of single target damage from VERY short range and therefor heals him a lot

TL;DR vlad is a mage who is safe sustainable and who players want to use in the middle of the teamfight embrace this and keep his pool and he will be great

Cassiopeia

-Identifiers --- ult --- poison ---twin fang

-changes --- changes can be made to her passive and her Q and/or W --- make her passive be that her Q W and R apply a poison and that her E consumes the poison to deal damage? Im not sure on what to do with her really though to be honest I think she should NOT be on this list she is shown to be played competitively and her DOT is HUGE which makes her unique and ADC like which is interesting for a mage I think she should stay as is and pick a different champion to make major changes to for the rework she already has a great identity and a unique reason to pick her

TL;DR she is unique and viable why change her exactly????????

Zyra

-Identifiers --- plants --- ult

-changes --- I would do one of 2 options 1 rip off illoai kit idea and put it in squishy mage form for ap damage then make it plants not tentacle. 2 make her more like heimer where the plants are put out as plants NOT as seeds and using spells on them empowers them

My focus though would be on making a sieging zone control mage with disengage. No ideas past that realy

Overall I think that changing malzahar, vel’koz, and brand is good because they are very staple mages. I think that changing Vladimir is good because wile unique he is not viable except in solo que. But changing zyra and Cassiopeia I think is a poor decision they are both viable in the correct mettas and they are both unique and have their own identity already.

I think that better candidates for changing are swain, lux, xerath, and zigs. I think swain because he is one of the least viable mages. lux, xerath, and zigs are probably the most typical/generic mages and could use changes to distinguish them from each other.

High base damages are pretty important to Zyra as well, it's a big reason she works as a support and can balance out the damage type on a team even from that role.
