Rito had the "healthiest" mana regen item right in front of their eyes
One of Riot's main concerns with the MYMU is making mana more impactful for mage ( read : gut mana regen because they're genuinly convinced that we have too much of it ) and in some cases I could understand why. It's not really fun having that
or
instawaveclearing and hardcore poking you for god knows how long ( even though the
crying in the corner had been doing them the same thing for the 15 first minuts of the game, and
with a
can do just about the same thing with access to lifesteal on top of it ) but I really think that having that hard of a gate to mana will end up not being healthy for the game overall.
Mages, execpt a specific few who have it built in their kits are the only class with no access to health sustain.
Mages are the only class who consistently have to actively itemise for manaregen, which even if it gave them infinite mana is already a weakness in and out of itself, because it prevents you from rushing that sweet
that is your only defensive option against AD's ( which I thought was gonna be adressed in the Update... but I guess not )
Mages are the one spending more time in the fountain already, because mana resplenishment is slower than HP.
Mages, as of live, and even more so on the PBE, are the most jungle-buff dependant class.
I know that you feel like there's too much emphazis on "spamming until it hits" right now, and that you' want every spellcast to count, but in that mindset, I say, why not go back to black market brawlers, and give us the option to choose between our current Morello and Pox Arcana ?
Make it PBE Lost chapter + Hextech revolver --> turn the mana regen into flat mana Reduce the damage on the active some bit, but make it 30 seconds cooldown And boom ! We have an item that rewards AP casters for actually hitting spells and that is alot more effective on AoE sieging mages ( it's intended buyers ) than it is on assassins and single target mages and is a lot less of a gamble that morello ( because sometimes games end up with really few kills, and when we just killed people, we don't need the mana anymore )
