Learning new lanes + utter trash matchmaking

I haven't really been able to find useful advice on this because Google searches for 'can't learn new roles bad matchmaking unfair laning etc.' doesn't return the right stuff.

How the crap are people supposed to learn new roles and champions when my 120 mastery points Riven from one game in ARAM gets matched against 502,000 mastery Teemo or 150,000 mastery Darius? Like, I'm seriously wondering. And these are not exception examples. This is EVERY SINGLE GAME. In NORMALS. Just had to deal with a sweaty Yasuo stomping us all game.

I main support and have pretty informed yet general ideas about how nearly every champ works, but watching for ganks is a lot different than dealing with alt-account Wukongs wrecking me in less than 5 minutes and ahead ez.

I don't want to just play Garen and take it safe every game. I want to learn top because my support style can't carry in bronze IV - plus new things are fun, right? Tips would be appreciated!

You'll learn more from playing against players decent at their champ than from other first-timers. It's an easy enough trap to form bad habits when you play against bad players when you're new to a champion because you don't get punished for it.

So relax, take a few losses on the chin and accept that its part of learning. We've all been there. I got to like 25k Fiora mastery before accepting the champ wasn't for me because I still felt like I was first timing.

Personaly, I use PBE to learn new champs because for the reasons you listed, learning something new, even at blind pick is impossible

what in the fuck...

mastery has nothing to do with matchmaking at all. matchmaking is based on elo and mmr......
