I can't figure out how to get out of silver...

Ive tried everything. As jg, I have played around the carry, tried to snowball lanes, tried to snowball myself, or tried to just keep my teammates alive. Even after I do all that my teammates still figure out how to troll my ranked games until I lose. I'm not sure what to do anymore...

Take a moment. Make a custom game. Put 3 bots on your team with beginner level, put 5 bots on enemy team with intermediate level. Can you carry this bot game 4 v 5 with your best champions?

I have an easier time winning games in Gold oddly. Silver is by far the most inconsistent ELO for team-mates as almost every single game bottles down to "Winner doesn't have the 1-9 team-mate".

I'm not even a toxic player, but if you go on a winning spree... They start intentionally giving you really bad players till you lose? Tell me again how that doesn't create frustration? Good players constantly have to deal with troll fests, and "Iffy" players just get harassed when grouped with the people on winning sprees for not being on the same level. TOXICITY is reinforced by the insanely bad team balance we currently have in place.

When you add in the mass amount of players doing first ranked games ever (S3), and not to mention a lot of people have dozens of smurfs that also start in Silver. It's more or less rolling dice unless you play a hard carry in low elos.

As a guy who was orignally Bronze 1 and is now Plat 1 (It has taken thousands of games.), Ill give you a couple brief, helpful tips.

  1. Make the connection between gold and impact/influence/carry points. The bigger of a lead you demand out of your enemy laner(s), the better you will be able to smash the rest of the enemy team. To carry in Silver, you must smash your lane opponent, no questions asked. If the guy on the other team is similar in skill to you and is on his way climbing as well, it is going to take a drop of luck to win the game.
  2. So you jg, huh? Sadly I cant give you a million tips here because I am a solo laner. But what I can say is: play around your laners powerspikes. For example, you should ALWAYS try to gank a Swain when he hits level 6. His ulti alone can dumpster a solo laner, so with a couple red buff procs, the kills are very easy. This would also apply to a Riven at level 6, a Fizz at levels 3 and 6, a Mundo at level 9, and so on. Just think about it, and do NOT be afraid to turn around a losing lane. Ask the laner if he is capable of 2v1ing, he should know his limits if he is even halfway decent.
  3. Gank bot lane as much as possible. Its just part of the meta right now. Dont try to make too much happen unles youre actually Sejuani (hard initiation champ) or Rammus. Let the ADC decide when he wants to fight since he does all the damage. Also something that you HAVE to be aware of: Every SINGLE adc spikes at 3 crit items. Hard. This is partly due to every crit item granting a large boost to crit chance at its final tier as well as getting some of the strongest passives in the game, and the general synergy of the builds. 3 crit items. Your AD now does massive damage.
  4. Youre in silver. Its a bit of a fuckfest. Playing a pubstomp champ is a good way to win. Try lee sin, kayne, gragas, and nidalee. Stay away from champs like Elise and Evelynn because getting every laner a lead early might not be enough to win if the game gets dragged out. You need to STOMP your enemies in Silver. Something like Rammus is not going to guaruntee you wins when youre playing a champ that no matter how fed and winning you are, you still depend on your ADC to get anything killed.
  5. Always Always Always give your ADC any kill possible. Other lanes use discretion.
  6. Late game. Everybody gets tense. At this stage of the game, making a pick is huge. And Ik that in silver, making picks is a possibility. If you kill the enemy support for free at 35 minutes, that should be a free baron. Start the thing and/or force a fight. You will win it.
  7. Play a champ with either a good ganking schedule, or Shyvana. If your champ cant powerfarm OR get mad ganks off, they arent going to make the cut, IE Amumu
  8. If you get a lead, live in the enemy jungle. This abusive play pattern can be extremely beneficial in ranked if you have just enough power to win a 1v1 AND you dont think the laners will be too much of an issue. For example as well, if you gank mid and kill him, immediately check enemy raptors for a camp, as if the enemy jg tries to contest it, you can 2v1.
  9. Dont squander precious time. After getting a kill on an enemy champ, you need to be armed with the knowledge of your next move, instantly. Saving these secondeshere and there can make a big impact for say when the enemy top laner tries to TP in to save the turret youre taking mid game, but since you got an extra 2 autos on the turret from immediately moving on after a successful gank. the tower goes down before he can TP in.
  10. Copy probuilds
  11. Master usage of red buff timer. Redd buff is actually broken, and abusing its uptime for ganks is a big key to winning games.

Let me know if you found any of this useful.

Before reading this, keep in mind I am currently S2 and am still bad, so take this with a grain of salt.

  1. Realize your bad. I'm not joking, try to be self critical

  2. Get a strong champ pool for your main role, if your jungle, get three champs, same for all other roles. 3 seems like a magic number.

2.5 Make sure you can play other roles, even if not effectively. Try and find champions that can go to multiple lanes. Eg. Sion, top and support, sometimes jg.

  1. Focus on objectives, no matter how much you want to kill the dancing nunu flashing mastery 7.

  2. Grind. Ranked is a very grindy game, but don't grind to much in one sitting or in one day, remember, you lp won't drop if you don't play multiple games a day.

  3. Lose. Sometimes you need to lose a game YOU did REALLY well in, so you can see the mistakes you made, and how it could have gone better

  4. Win. Sounds brain dead right? Well, as long as you know HOW to win you will win more often than not.

Although I am only silver 2, and I was bronze season 7, I can offer up what I have been using to climb. I went from bonze 1 in season seven, to silver 4 in pre-season. I then placed silver 5 and in 95 games.... wait, in 95 games I only climbed 3 divisions? Dang, oh well.... uh... Oh, yeah, You too, can consistantly climb.

"figure out" tells me you're going about this the wrong way. As you said, you're trying all kinds of things, looking for an easy way out, a trick, a cheat, to get out. You have to get better, and this is usually done by focusing on one thing. Focus on one role or champion, learn absolutely everything you can about that champion and you will surely improve eventually. You'll never get better if you scatter your efforts in every direction at once.

Stop auto-pilot and don't coin flip. Keep up with the farm at mid - late game. Don't wonder around / pick pointless "kill all enemy" fights in mid / late game. Reset after each objective, if team stays, f' em, let 'em die. Make sure you don't.

Im a diamond 3 player s7 and i cant get out of silver in s8, so im just taking a break till they fix this game

Flawless Fetus3/12/2018, 4:02:06 PM1 votes

My advice is play snowball mids and win all 3 lanes. Back when I boosted (riot caught me so I stopped), I'd take champs like Kat/zed/Yas mid. Kill your laner. Go bot. Kill your laner. Go top. Etc. Unfortunately, none of those 3 are "brain dead" champs, but if you can reliably win lane with any of them and roam, you'll get out of silver in no time.

SDhrek3/12/2018, 7:01:00 PM1 votes

At the moment, the most important lane to win is for bot lane to win. Not sure if you are one of the ones that say. “Oh I deserve to be higher rank.” Or not, I hope you don’t at least, that mentality can get you stuck.

One big thing that a lot of people do at silver that gets them stuck, is switch between different roles and champions, it’s much better to one trick, and have two or so champions as a back up.

I was stuck in gold for the longest of times, wondering what I could do, got this advice and went with Sona. After about 30 straight games with her I was finally able to climb up to plat, and kept playing her. This season I am playing a lot of Leona, and I am expecting to hit diamond soon, already have diamond mmr, mostly just playing a single champion and role.

As a S4 player myself, here is the only bit of advice I can give you right now:

  1. Leads - Typically, when you get a massive lead in your lane (say, as stated, you get fed on ![Katarina](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Katarina.png) 3/0 and you have better cs than the opponent laner), your priority is to take that lead and bring it to other lanes so that you spread influence across the map. During the laning phase, scout out for people who are pushing lane past the half-way point and follow a jungle path that leads behind them. With enough spam pings and "omw's", your top/bot lane should realize that you're trying to gank that lane and set up appropriately for that. Objectives is a big thing too, where you should always be looking to take towers that are free (requires knowledge of where the enemies are and decent vision of jungle), and to take drakes/rift/baron when the opportunity arises. Where I found I struggle the most, though, is transitioning from laning phase to team fights. All I can recommend is: find a priority target on their team that serves as the biggest threat. Scout them out, find if they are alone or with a support (if the priority is an adc, most likely), and set your goal as to killing them so they don't carry their team. Teamfights are all up to who you play, realistically. You should know who to focus and how to play if you've studied your champion.

  2. Champions - Understanding the champion you play and the champions the enemy play are a huge part on how to carry/win games. If you are able to understand who synergizes well with each other, and know how to counter that champion with your champion, then it should be fairly easy for you to fight, as you possess superior mechanics IF you understand the matchup. Another part of the champions topic is to main one champion to the point where you understand them so well, that it becomes second-hand knowledge to analyze everyone but yourself since you know how to play that particular champion so well. Analyzing others and their tendencies is a big part of playing too, as it gives you an advantage on their mistakes. Such, as, for example, a Tryndamere player who split pushes all the time top lane. You should be able to bring a teammate over to top lane and to 2v1 him. If he comes back to top lane and does the same thing, you will as well.

Also, I really, highly advise that you pick an easy-to-play champion with high carry potential and just SPAM them. Katarina isn't the most difficult champion, but doesn't offer as easy mechanics as, say, Annie , Darius , Warwick , etc.

  1. Your team - Understand that at low elo, I'd estimate that 85% of the time, players wont be able to carry your team unless they get incredibly fed by a far dumber enemy player. So its mainly up to you to communicate with your team (avoid /mute//mute all, I don't recommend it at all unless its for toxic players) and to direct them like they are a bunch of idiots. Constantly treat them that way. Your bot lane arguing with one another because the Blitzcrank accidently gave a kill to Vayne ? Tell them to mute each other, or encourage them to play safely and ward until jungle comes to help. Khazix and Velkoz not joining in team fights because they are too lost in farming? Spam them to come join fights without insulting them, or play around them so they are forced to 5v5. Players love to get tilted in bronze/silver/gold, simply because they can't have the perfect game or perfect team, so it is up to you to make sure that those players are properly accommodated with a decent carry so that they don't ruin the game for others. Unfortunately, that's just the way the game goes.

  2. Losing - Finally, what I feel is most important to understand about League is that you WILL lose games. That is the most inevitable part of the game that can't be helped. Sometimes, you just can't carry your team hard enough. And sometimes, you throw games that were winnable until you were ace'd in the last teamfight. I understand how frustrating that is to have bad teammates. But that's part of the game. Instead, what you can do in-game and post-game is to think about what the consequences of losing are. Realistically, its absolutely nothing. Sure, you lose LP out of it, but if you truly are a good player, you'll earn it back just as quickly. And maybe you won't. Sometimes its possible to go on huge losing streaks that you can't prevent because you become out of touch with League, or you play because you are tilted (never play if you are agitated, never helps). It'll all be dependent on how eager you are to win and climb. Someone who plays Azir with a 25% winrate over 78 games in ranked obviously doesn't care for the game as much as you. That's why they'll constantly lose and fail to climb; they don't put in the effort to improve themselves. Take ranked seriously, and I guarantee you'll climb.

Anyways, sorry for the text-wall. Just a bit of general information to follow that you probably already heard.

[slayer-pantheon-thumbs] Adios!

I know Bronze and Silver are two different worlds entirely, but when I was stuck in a similar situation in Bronze 5 (people feeding way too hard, games being determined almost completely by which of the other 9 players feeds hardest) but then I did something interesting... I played a champion in a way that people weren't prepared for. I mean, don't do something stupid, like full-crit Lux top or something, but here's what I mean.

I had played Sion top and in the jungle for a long time. I knew his wind up times on his Q, the range and mechanics on his E, and the delay on his W. Heck, I also was somewhat decent wall drifting with his ultimate if I could get the angle right. But, I simply wasn't getting progress on either of those roles. Jungling in anything other than Gold is a HUGE risk. Unless you are the God of playing someone like Yi, Jax, or Pantheon or something, you probably aren't going to carry consistently.

But, you know what I noticed? Sion is actually a really strong support champion. He has great base damages, so his poke can be devastating. I also knew that players in bronze don't ward their bottom lane bushes, or, if they do, they don't consider the possibility of Sion being inside. Also armed with the knowledge that you can't see Sion's Q if you don't have vision of Sion, I would very easily catch people out.

Now, am I saying that Support Sion is the answer to all of you problems? Absolutely not. My win rate dropped from 95% to about 55% to 60% as I climbed up to Bronze 2. But, before that point, I was doing horribly, because I was playing champions that require your team to at least hold it together without you having to constantly babysit one or more other lanes. I was playing my current main, Veigar, who really can't stand lanes that lose the game for him early. I had some success, but my win rate was consistently below 40%. At the time, I thought that getting autofilled support meant that you might as well flip a coin to determine if you're going to win or not, because supporting with Lux or Lulu just wasn't cutting it for me.

What I found out was that I needed a different champion for the situation that I was in. Also, don't be afraid to try new champions that aren't played often, unless they have some kind of garish win rate like 40%. Logically speaking, it would probably be best to prey on players' weaknesses at that level. From what I gather, the consensus is that players at the Silver level have a somewhat rounded experience - they've probably played each role at least once. Often times, Silver players may have decent CS, and generally have very high mechanical skill with one or two champions, skewing towards simple champions like Annie, Caitlyn, Pantheon, etc. And, finally, Silver players don't ward as often as they should. If they do, then they don't check the mini map as often as they should.

So, considering you seem to be well-versed in the Jungle, I would recommend a champion that excels in ganking, and being unseen. Shaco is good, because his clearing is so safe that you can often counter-jungle the enemy very easily, and his ganks are easy to pull off, due to his ability to go into stealth. If his ultimate is giving you issues (because, trust me, I would never try playing such a complicated champion) Kha'zix would probably be a good alternative. Twitch is also good as a jungler, but requires a lot more kiting of jungle camps to be effective, and generally isn't as consistent as Shaco or Kha'zix. Rengar is also good, because, when played properly, he can severely punish people who like to face-check bushes, or run past bushes with no fear.

If you'd like an even safer bet, Zac is another great ganking champion. He can often drop in over walls, or sling-shot in from huge distances away. He also has enough crowd control that would facilitate allies to get kills. Sejuani is also good, because her ultimate is a godlike source of CC, has a huge area of effect, and she also has a charge that can go over walls, further extending her range. Vi is another good pick, because her Vault Breaker goes over walls and will cc, she usually builds bruiser so she's kinda tanky but outputs some serious damage, and her ultimate is fantastic for locking people down. She also reduces armor, so she's great for getting AD-based champions snowballing hard, especially if they're behind.

Now, I say this because that's what's been said to me. I am an AWFUL jungler, but the logic seems sound on these champions.

Also, according to your OP.gg, you tend to hang on to your warding trinket. As a jungler, it may be more effective to buy a sweeping lens, to make sure that your ganks can take place without detection. It may be a little different if you continue to play Kayn, if you decide to buy duskblade. But, considering in your past several games as Kayn, you haven't bought duskblade, it's probably not part of your core build. But, it is good to see that you're placing a good number of control wards down - it's something that not enough people do at lower levels.

But, then again, I'm bronze, and also not taking my own advice, so take from this what you will.

What I do is I try to find what each elo requires in order to abuse it and climb.

For Bronze, I found Jungling is the easiest way to climb, and I use Jarvan to do it. Having a bit of game knowledge and you can outpace the enemy jungler so much that you can make the game 5v4 very easily. Then just go full AD and ruin your enemies' lives. It's free elo, as long as you know what you are doing. The trick in Bronze is that people have low patience, they play like monkeys so a good mobile assassin like full AD Jarvan can easily kill anyone and then push a tower. Rotate, kill someone else, take enemy jungle etc. Easy.

For Silver, it's not the same, even though you can find some similarities. You can still use Jungle if you are confident enough and reach Gold, you can also start using something that can splitpush like Jax. Learn how to lane as Jax, get advantages and then just push. When you see enemies missing, back off, and go to some other lane to push. Eventually you will get a tower, maybe kills as you go.

For Gold, it gets trickier. People won't be as easy to abuse, so you actually need to start being good and believe in you own skill to climb more.

I was Gold 2 last season. I'm already Plat 3 this season and played Janna for like 75% of my games, with a 62% winrate on her and 59% overall. The best advice I have to give you is get better. Understand the game, how to play your lane, the ins and outs of your champions, best rune setup, best itemization, windows of opportunities, roaming, knowing when to do what etc. I'm not mechanically good, I've seen Plat 3 players that far outdo me mechanically. Thing is, you don't really need mechanics to climb high, except when you reach the top where everything counts. I have to assume that, as a Plat 3 with 59% winrate, game knowledge and smart choices is way more important than being a mechanical Yasuo god.

Google “Leaguecraft 101” or if you're not feeling that... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iko2tqmDpJQ

I learned a lot from that series, was back in gold after just watching 3 or 4 of them. It basically covers a lot of things you may or may not already do knowingly/unknowingly. Everything from trading in lane to team fights to macro. It breaks a lot of the game down for you and makes it much easier to learn. Do note however, you won't just watch this and magically climb. It will take practice, but after watching the video you'll at least know what it is you're trying to practice in order to improve.

I had asked a lot of friends in Diamond how they got better etc, nobody could ever give me a good answer. It was always something vague. “Learn your champ better”, or “Learn to macro”, etc. Nobody could ever really say what went into being a Diamond player specifically. The ins and outs, the separate areas to work on, never any specifics. This video series gives specific areas to work on (a lot of them).

I think the one lesson that helped me most was about how team fights are actually supposed to work (since silver is basically All Mid after a certain point). Knowing proper engagement really put me on a big win streak. Prior to the series I would make some decent engagements, but a lot of it was just trying to catch a carry out. After learning a bit I was able to make most of my engagements turn into a successful team fight, even when behind.

Now I’m not saying I’m just steady climbing like crazy now after watching this. In fact I just now hit gold again, but watching these videos will give you a foundation to work from. Going forward, I at least know specific areas to improve on and what actually goes into being a better player. In my opinion, that is invaluable. If it wasn’t for some random comment on these forums recently, I’d probably still just be playing blindly trying to climb without actually learning efficiently.

So, yeah climbing in Silver can be hard if you're not mechanically amazing, or just have a 6th sense for playing League. However, if you have a starting point for knowing what you need to improve on; things become much easier. Instead of playing 50 games just trying to win and make plays, watch the series and play 50 games trying to win and improve on various aspects of your play. Over time you will become better at these things, and you will climb. There will still be games where your bot lane goes 0/5 at 10 minutes, but contrary to popular belief on these forums, that isn't the norm. Especially when you're playing as jungle, you have the tools to stop that from happening a lot of the time (and that isn't exclusive to bot).
