Demolish

First of all, Bone Plating was added in 8.4 and has been one of the most picked runes ever since, esp when a champ never really wanted Demolish in the first place. But I don't think it's necessarily because BP is the "best" rune for its slot. Font of Life is pretty meh IMO, I would replace it. The reason Demolish isn't taken much even on its intended users is because of the current Death-ball meta and the buff to Hand of Baron as well as . Current meta favors tanks + teamfighting, not splitpushers. The tanks often just pop a banner and roam.

Who needs Demolish when the AD/AP you get from Baron buff scales up to 40m? And now properly buffs minions.

Who needs Demolish when you can Banner-Promote a cannon minion or have Baron buff (Cannon outranging towers)?

Who needs Demolish even in the early game, when towers are not that durable (too much powercreep?) where just 1 gank in botlane can mean 1st turret blood (and then siege other lanes)?

Who needs Demolish when your can 4-shot towers late-game?
