Genuine curiosity as to the state of Zed and Maw.

I'm wondering if we could get a Riot response as to why Maw and Zed are still in the state they're in. When a "high skill" champion has such a ridiculous pickrate, and a good winrate(I'm sure his banrate is extremely high as well, otherwise his pickrate would be higher, but ban data is broken) there are problems with the state of balance. Maw gives way too much for the cost. You get every offensive stat an AD champion ever wants, and ridiculous tankiness, and meanwhile anyone who wants to build Zhonyas has to trudge through an unenjoyable early game until they can get another item.

Not playing Zed is extremely frustrating right now, and the fact that Maw is pretty much the most built item in the game sans boots should say something. I know it gets tossed around a lot, but it really feels like Riot picks favorites.

Here's why.

They rolled out a large melee update and overpowered anything AD for a reason. Isn't it coincidental there is a mage update the same exact season?

Basically, they want to see how their new items and item changes are doing. They want you to play lots of AD champs so they can see exactly what the strengths and weaknesses of these new items for AD are. Mages are weak right now on purpose so you're encouraged to explore all the potential of AD. However, when the mage update rolls out, I'm sure they will nerf some AD items and introduce new AP items and it will balance out. So all the threads complaining about Zed and Talon dominating mid lane are correct. Riot understands this, Riot did it on purpose. They are not OP to the point of being game breaking, as there are things such as QSS, Zhonyas, and anti assassin champions strong in the meta right now, but they definitely have an advantage. And Riot will leave it this way until the mage update comes out.
