Is there viable itemization against suppression as a mage?

I've heard people say that it wouldn't be fair for mages to have an AP QSS item since they already have item 3157 and I can see how that would be unfair that they get a stasis and a clense, but what are they supposed to do against a comp that runs one for more suppressions? The clense summoner doesn't remove it since its not a debuff or a disable according to riot, and in my opinion is just a waste of a summoner just because it can't remove ALL cc, and its not like you can zhonya during the suppression. So it comes down to positioning smart, which is something everyone should try to do anyways I know, and hoping you have someone on your team with item 3222 that will save you... JK that doesn't even work. So even if you position somewhat safely you're still at risk of a flash suppress and guess what? At least to me, there is no response to that as a mage since you can't zhonya it, you can't clense it, your supportive team mates can't remove it, and you can't out position a flash that easily. So what does a mage buy/do? And why is clense such a bad summoner? Full discolsure, I am a silver support main but this seems kind of unfair for mages who either have to waste an item slot for an item that won't build into anything they can use, or they pray that their team can bail them out, but in my elo those prayers go unanswered quite a bit of the time.

i don't think so.

And mages don't need anything atm they are the top tier class atm anyway.

Or you could play Malzahar and lock down someone... item 3137 item 3139 item 3140 oh wait....

Just buy a item 3140 . It's 1300 gold and it's a very viable defensive option if you're playing against a CC-heavy team.

So many people get lost in the idea that you have to have 6 full items built before you're at your full potential, and that's just simply not true. Truth is, most champions hit their final power-spike by 3rd item, and everything after that is just redundant. Even ADCs only need 4 items to reach full potential.

No, and in fact defensive options are pretty lacking for AP characters in general.

Beyond Abyssal Scepter and Zhonya's Hourglass, there are only pure defensive items. Even then, the impact of Zhonya's Hourglass is questionable for champions not named Lissandra or Swain. Meanwhile ADs get access to Edge of Night to ignore one whole ability, Mercurial Scimitar to negate what is likely the more important aspect of an ability, the CC... Then there's Maw of Malmortius with its automatic shield and lifesteal, like ADs really needed more help killing APs considering they can also right-click for massive damage.

The itemization in this game is screwed. If anything APs should have access to the better options because beyond their abilities they're worthless, meanwhile ADs can whiff everything and still kill you due to piss poor itemization and right-click lul so hard.

QSS still works

Cleanse doesn't remove suppression because you can't use summoner spells during suppression, lol.

Have you ever watched any LCS game with a malzahar in it? Literally everyone on the other team but the support buys a QSS at some point. An AP item that built out of QSS would literally take the majority of the mages out of the game because it would negate good portions of their kit, like malzahar for example.
