Can we talk about Ornn?
Normally, when a person thinks of a tank in League, they should think of a large, immobile champion with high amounts of cc, but relatively low outputs of damage. But if you really take a few seconds to look, Ornn is nothing like that.
First, take into consideration Ornn's passive. At lvl 1, Ornn is able to deal 12% of an enemy champions max health when he attacks them while they have brittle. "Ok," you say, "Tanks should have some way to deal with the many bruisers top lane". But then you take into account his W. At lvl 1, his W ALSO deals 12% of your max health. Imagine if Darius, by casting one spell on you and autoing you, and doing nothing else, could take away 24% of your max HP, while also taking next to 0 dmg from anything you do to him. But thats not even including his ultimate. His ultimate, upon first cast, applies Brittle and slows. Then, if he hits you with the second part, he consumes the Brittle, and applies another stack. By the time that his r comes around, he should have put 3 points into w, making it deal 14% of his opponent's max health, and his passive will deal 15% of his opponent's max health when he break Brittle. That means if he only uses his w, r , and autos, Ornn, as a full tank, can deal _ almost 60% of his opponent's max health _, not including his Q, E, R magic damage, any items, such as thornmail or sunfire cape, or even grasp of the undying. "Well," you say, "why dont you just dodge his abilities!". Great point! I love only being able to play Fiora into Ornn so I can dodge his q slow and his ultimate, while still being able to deal slightly more damage to him because of my passive.
We haven't even started talking about Ornn's overall tankiness, but that's not what I have a problem with. I like the concept of Ornn, as well as how unique he is compared to other champions. But, at this same time, I absolutely disagree with how powerful he currently is. Sure he can't carry games, but he makes it a hell of a lot harder for the enemy to win, more than most champions. I am open to any thoughtful discussion, and any explanations as to why this is "fair", or any flaws in my logic.
