Rough picture to dumb down the map.

The first time I heard people complaining about being purple instead of blue, I didn't think much of it.

Then people started complaining about the camera angle and I raised my eyebrow.

Lately, I've heard that people say that their mini map is getting in the way when they're playing bottom lane on purple team.

This really boggles my mind.

Before you - yes, you - start typing in the reply box, I would like you to click on the image and take a significant amount of time to study it. And before you try to throw something back in my face to try to troll me, please leave your childhood traumas in your childhood.

Please note that both teams have a summoner's platform.

Both teams have one nexus with two turrets.

Both teams have three inhibitors, with one turret guarding each one respectively.

Both teams have three lanes.

Both teams have two turrets in each lane.

Both sides of the map have a red buff.

Both sides have a blue buff.

Both sides have a frog (previously wight).

Both sides have wraiths.

Both sides have rocks (previously golems).

All bushes are in the same spot on both sides, just inversed. Every. Single. Bush.

On both sides of the river, there is a single bush in the water.

You COULD say that dragon and baron separate the sides to make a huge difference, but they are equidistant apart and are on the opposite side of each other. And the pits themselves are roughly the same size.

You COULD say that purple team has a better blue leash and that blue team has a better red leash. But it's IMPOSSIBLE for that mid lane to move around, right? In fact, I would say that this is THE ONLY point in the game that one team could have an advantage over the other. ... ...

BUT WHAT IF A TEAM DECIDES THAT THEY AREN'T GOING TO FOLLOW THE NA META WHICH WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE PROFESSIONAL EUROPEAN TEAMS!? GGAAASSSPP HERESY! HERESY! BURN THE WITCH!

Seriously, though. The only reason why you could say that one side is different from the other is because your brain is making you see it that way.

It's all about the bot lane purple side and that's about it. The camera angle was bad and Riot admitted it, especially with all the interface in the way, not just the minimap, but your skills. Basically, you were forced to use the free camera and being forced to do so is automatically a disadvantage. I personally like to rotate between fixed and free depending on the situation, but purple side bot lane did not allow for that because you are so squished.

Yeah it's definitely much more about the camera angle than it is the arbitrary stuff you listed. Strawman too stronk.

You forget that Blue side has first pick for priority/broken champs.

Blue side has advantage for top laner harder to gank. You could say that blue side has weeker bot for easier ganks, but since a support is usually down there; wards are more readily available.

Easier for blue side to run away towards base when at baron pit. Generally this is more game deciding then dragon fights so a little more crucial imo.

I always thought of having purple bot lane go top just to make it mentally the same as being on blue side. Of course, though, in Solo Q, no one likes good ideas, so they just cry "BRONZE!"

I did, however, discover that there is slight difference over the bushes in River going to top vs River going to bot. You can ward the top river bush from behind the trees in front of the team tri-bush, a lot easier than you can ward bot river bush from behind the trees. In fact, the only way I was able to get a good ward in there was with the extended ward range utility.
